OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Hubris and self-indulgent hype. Positive is, no BS from Richo. Wanna go. F off. We're not here to prop up your next offer.
Exactly,, he is a lock anyway , he will be a teriffic player and I’d hoped he would stay but the fact he knocked back 5 mil over 5 years at the club that believed in him and developed him is a really troubling indication of his personality and his priorities.. Latu and his brothers are the future of this club, part of a potential dynasty IMO and this could really be a true blessing in disguise. I’m glad it has been our chance to tell MOSES the f
Grub to go and get F***ed!

I'd be interested to see which party was more keen to do the extension. If Tigers kept pushing for him to extend beyond 2026 but he didn't want to- he has every right to do that. I understand we are doing better now, but for a very good young prospect to sign long-term at a shit club, it's a tough decision. And let's not start with the whole loyalty BS- the club will move him on the minute he starts playing shit.

I strongly disagree that it's about the money.

A good, strong decision by the club. We need to plan our halves situation for 2027 now and if Galvin doesn't want to do that, we can all move forward.

I love his fitness and his willingness to compete. He is in the game no matter what, but he definitely does not have the defence, the finesse or the skillset yet to be an elite half. He may develop it under good coaching.

Who in their camp has the motivation and means to leak it publicly and what does that then say about the power of their position to negotiate?

Reeks of Isaac Moses and Lachlan losing money TBH
What you shared (and good on you for doing so), is hardly the type of messaging a manager would want around the reputation of one of his blue-chip young stars though, it is?

I don't understand how painting Galvin and his family as 'expecting keys to the team and wanting in the vicinity of $2 million' by leaking that information specifically (if it's true) helps Galvin and his image in any way, shape or form.

I think Richo has called their bluff.

This is actually pretty disappointing for me. Not so much because it's **** Lachie Galvin**** but more that a 19 year old kid who was a club Jr ( to what ever extent) being offered life changing money says no to a club clearly in a better place then years past.
With richo in charge and a 50/50 win rate it was feeling really good. This just upsets the apple cart yet again. I really hope tigers take the same steps as roosters and don't deal with his slug of a manager any more.
Galvin and his parents have bought into his hype way too much. If he signs for less and then has a horrific injury he is munted.. I obviously 100% am not saying that's what I want to happen.
Anyway I hope the club has a plan and this isn't the first domino to fall that causes a cascade.
Dunno why every club doesnt boycott him...hed be f***ed then

He will be if he picks up a serious injury before this season is through. An ACL or torn pec would destroy his value for next season. Not to mention if it’s a Tuiaki or Alex McKinnon type injury. You never know. It’s idiotic to sit on so much money when this occupation is one that could be taken from you in the blink of an eye.

They said that about Matt Groat and Trent Hodkinson. The guy will not be what he is being made out to be. Seen 500 others in the same position as a teenager.
Lots of teenage stars but not that many who have come straight into grade and had an impact like Galvin. Remember he came straight from school. No Flegg, no Cup. Think Galvin has what it takes to kick on, but now couldn't care less whether he does or doesn't. Latu is and will be the better half.

We had too many halves on big money anyway.

As I have said all along- the plan was Latu originally. That's why the Tigers signed him for $500k etc.

Galvin wasn't even the next option.

The club then signed Bud Sullivan for $500k etc

Then...Galvin wasn't even the NEXT option...

The club signed Jerome Luai.

Galvin outworked many to get a shot last year.

But he was never the original plan.

He was, at best, the 4th option in management's eyes.

Signing Galvin to a big contract would have meant a lot of dead cap space from losing Latu & Bud.

Galvin wasn't even the #1 5/8 in Harold Matts when they won the cup.

That was Heath Mason.

All this, and not even mentioning Doueihi.
