I don’t believe there are any elite edge back rowers coming through the Eels ranks at the moment, hence the reason they are trying to develop our ex player Kitione Kautoga as their strike back rower.Yea for sure . But if you’re his manager right , and you know that it’s only a matter of time before this kid moves to lock or edge backrow , which it is , wouldn’t you want to slow that transition as much as possible . And go for the cash now as well . Because we all know those 2 positions , well since the brown contract , is now anywhere from 300-600k less money for an elite in that position.
And Benji has come out lately and talked about figuring out a way to get Latu into the 17 .
I’m not 💯 sure it’s lachie , but my guess is his dad is the one who felt the most threatened , he would have been there when Lachie was dropped from the eels , he would have been there when Lachie missed rep teams or was moved , and saw his son and his reaction , and I think it might be a case of history repeating itself in the nrl .
To me it explains everything.
I’ve coached kids . I’ve seen how the parents react , and politic and try and manipulate and manoeuvre their kid to be on the ball more .
Maybe I’m clutching at straws but man , it’s not like there’s not a history of it … and Moses is facilitating it in the most cutthroat ruthless way possible , by burning every bridge on the way out .
They don’t want him to play lock . A big offseason , just 1 in the gym , and it’s all over . He’s wearing the 13 .
My guess is the eels have promised him the 6 for the duration of the contract .
Kades right though . It’s irrelevant . Is there any elite edge backrowers in the eels lower grades ?
I reckon they will target Kai Pearce-Paul and likely also target another Isaac Moses client in Tony Sukkar as competition with Kautoga for their left edge spot.
I say this as it’s obvious Ryles has the theory of needing big bodied mobile edge back rowers and having the workers in the middle.
Anyway if Lachie wants to believe the bull crap coming from people outside of Wests Tigers than good luck to him, as Benji more or less said we cannot force players to stay and nobody is bigger than the club itself.
