Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Wow, that explains it...

So Reynolds was the anti-madge troublemaker at the Bunnies. He might actually work then with Benji.

Also explains why the Bunnies kicked their halfback instead of others. Still I would be trying to recruit Reynolds now. He is a solid 7 and Luai is a solid 6. Can we forget about the "next best things" for awhile.
There is zero evidence of Reynolds having an issue with Maguire. He was not the one leading the calls to sack Madge at Souths (Madge got himself sacked with failing to adapt his game plan after losing his forwards) and Souths moved Reynolds on years after they got rid of Maguire.
Is Maguire a quality club coach? That is Yet to be determined in my opinion, but there is nothing to suggest he has a bad relationship with Adam Reynolds.

I’ve been a huge fan of Lucas for a few years and watched KPP closely over last 2 seasons.

KPP has moved from the left to right and well Ponga never floats on the right.

In saying that when he was on the left the line brakes didn’t flow but he often at times looked to get half through.

KPP is putting the effort in and very much focused on team first. 40 tackles and 100+mtrs a game shows it clearly.

He often looks to offload (hardly any support near him) and his post contact meters are good once he hits the 40mtr zone. His legs keep pumping and often doesn’t hit the ground.

KP hovers to the left. They have replaced halves every few weeks and swapped the hooker rotation around a heap as well.

The Knights formation on the right is the worst in the comp by a margin this season.

He is better than what we have but is he elite far from it.

That's interesting that he played on the left because I was thinking it might be good to move Sam to the right to link up more with his brother. So that may work if KPP can slot into the left comfortably. The Latu and Sam can work together

KPP is a solid first grader. Big athlete, powerful, good offload and a strong work rate in attack and defence. He plays the ball quick which is underrated. Runs hard but lacks strike in attack.

I like Sam Fainu and KPP as edge back rowers. Gives us some real size and power. Seyfarth is a bench player in the NRL and a solid one in that role. Improves the side and depth also.

There was a story at the time , when Madge got moved on , that Reynolds was off him completely . Reynolds and the burgess boys . I remember hearing it clearly at the time from a mate . It was the first time I heard about the snake in the locker room .
Years before anyone brought it up in the media . True or not true I dunno, but it’s interesting history is repeating again for Madge . I’d almost feel bad for him if it wasn’t the 4th time . I mean seriously , he can’t possibly be that stubborn and fixed in his ways.

KPP has the same energy as the kids who's dad makes them play on the weekend. I just dont get the hype
I agree it’s a concern, particularly when his contract value is north of 700k.
Stats are very deceiving around tackles made as the attacking team will run in the direction of certain players that don’t demonstrate good line speed and don’t hit hard in defence. The alarming stat is he has very few tackle breaks for a man of his size, speed and skill, that tells you he is only running the ball half hearted.
As I keep saying we might have to take a chance on him as there is not many quality back rowers available, the other 2 options being David Fifita who has plenty of bad traits of his own and hence the reason why the likes of Des Hasler and Billy Slater do not rate him or Brandon Piakura who is reportedly out of favour with Madge and the Broncos.
Piakura would be the cheapest option and probably has the most upside, I’d be having a good look at potentially signing him.

Piakura is a better footballer than either of those other two.

Reynolds is better than all those options mentioned.

They're all around the Kurt Falls level, yep.
Back up options.

Tyrone May is another good option that could play other positions also.
Already have Falls & May, you would think, is an easy get.

Coupled with Mason & Doueihi- halves coverage is solid.

I think nearly all our supporters agree that Latu Fainu has plenty of talent and looks to be a dominant NRL player of the future, however we cannot throw all our eggs into the one basket with him as our regular halves partner for Luai.
We don’t even know if that combination will work as neither are players that command the ball as a first receiver and take control of a game and adding to that are Latu’s ongoing injury concerns.
With this in mind we need fierce competition for Latu to earn his NRL halves position on a regular basis, I think signing Tyrone May if we can get him for a reasonable price of no more than 300k would add competition and a good experienced option and I still think we should be looking at a more genuine number 7 option who would also add competition at a low cost of around 300k and I believe someone like Tannah Boyd would be perfect.
If we had Tannah Boyd and Tyrone May playing as our NSW Cup halves, our team would be vastly improved and it would be genuine competition for them to force their way into our NRL team.

Plays with a lot more energy and purpose, has good speed for a back rower and is a genuine tackle break/line break option,
Adding to this I think he could be signed for somewhere around 500-600k maximum, so you are saving a couple of hundred thousand in our salary cap compared to signing KPP or Fifita also.
