Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Guys I don't think we should be dis-heartened by the last few weeks. Injury has hit us early this year with Skelton, Toa, Pole being out on different occasions. We also need to understand that two of our starting vets aren't pulling their weight either.

I haven't seen any value from Jack bird in attack or defense, he has been emotional, slow in defense and doesnt have a sneaky off load or have any crafty passes in his game to be considered a good lock at this point.

I also dont understand why Royce hunt (the biggest guy in the pack) is playing softly. He runs off the back fence just to go down as soon as he touches a denfender. He adds no defensive power as Api, May, Twal and Luai end up tackling almost everybody.

Dont even get me started on staines or naden.

On the other hand, many of our players have stepped up over the last 10 weeks. Our defense has been a lot tighter then the last few weeks. Keep in mind, we have only been flogged twice, brisbane & melbourne who have the two best teams in the comp.

Hopfully we get Latu back in, I also would try and fit Sukkar and TDS into the starting side moving forward.

Drop Glavin, Bird, Naden and Stains, replace seyfarth and twal with new recruits next year.

Overall, we actually haven't done as bad as everyone is saying. We are miles better than last year, we just have a few cracks that can be patched up over this season and the next.

Claws out tigers, im still confident in a top 8 finish this season.

Do you think fatigue could be an issue? the boys played 11 straight without a bye and have done a lot of travelling the last 3 weeks.
If it is it is a concern, however, look at the Donkeys and how the "overtraining" is affecting them. Benji doesn't strike me as that type of coach - but then again I haven't been to a training session. The one time I was in Sydney I tried but the CoE was quiet.

I personally think it is a mental issue as opposed to a physical one; perhaps it is a bit of both - the grind of week in week out NRL level on body and desire. Whatever it is I trust we find the cause and fix it over the next fortnight.

It is good that one of our Balmain juniors has returned and I believe he was rated the best centre prospect produced by Holy Cross.
So they say...

I think there's more to this story though...
He went to the Knights & was stuck behind Gagai & Best.... that's a hard act to follow.

He was shopped to super league clubs however he's ended up at the magpies.

I believe has has the desire to back himself and still chase the NRL dream. He's played a bunch of different positions in cup the past few weeks and has consistently looked good and got better with each game.

A kid with a dream and the desire to succeed.... interested to see how we manage this.

I'll say he's better than Lobb, Feledy and Fataape.

He also suffered a bad run of injuries and the Knights have purchased Brown.

I'll be glad for the mental break - but It would have been a good week not to have the bye with teams impacted by SOO - shame we haven't got the Cowboys this week.
💯 we have 2 byes the week before origins. That doesn’t suit us if we aren’t getting players named. We want to be playing against the teams who are missing their SOO stars.

Hunt is our #1 bulldozer. You can see how much he provides when he's on the field in terms of team lifting with his charges. We just need more of it.

In our roster, his understudy for this role is Kit Laulilii who is still a couple of years away from providing any semblance of similar impact.
Not a fan of Kit.
IMO he will never make it from what I have seen. I think hew has already peaked.

He only turned 20 in Feb and is playing nsw cup front row. Props don't hit their straps usually to 23 at least. No rush for him
Watching him last year we he was a boy playing against men and failed to make an impact. However, he must have worked hard over the off season and actually has a physical presence when carrying the ball or hitting in defence. Should only get stronger over the next couple of years.

One of our few pathways players who seems to be trending in an upwards direction. Hopefully him and his brother get some luck on the injury front and can develop their game further.

I liken him a bit to Moses Leota who only made his NSW Cup & later NRL debut at age 21 after coming up through the grades at Penrith. It wasn't until he was 23 that he had cemented his 1st grade spot. So I'm happy to give Kit time to gradually develop his body & game.
