Imo your right only with the situation being isolated with the recent developments. We need to remember he was requesting releases all last year aswell until Richo sat down with his inner circle. So once we remember that the us against him narrative goes out the window because he's not going to play playstation at home for 2.5 years if we release him, he's not asking to be released from an N.R.L team without somewhere else to go already, if he loves playing as much as everyone claims. This has been brewing for ages. Whether it was Parra or Canterbury who started talking to his manager and started him thinking, iv no idea but iv got no doubt the seed was sown by one of those clubs to entice him across. As soon as Sheens left he started asking to be let go. This isn't just a this year issue, this has been bubbling for the better part of 2 years now.Just to add a little more to this drama
The first press release Richardson did where he said we gave him the biggest contract but he doesn't want to be here etc..
Good or bad?
It felt like a strong move at the time, but I feel in hindsight it was the wrong move. Straight away, we made it a him vs us thing.
The media spin esp with Gus in it will now become that all Galvin did was to say that he won't be here from 2027 onwards and that we alienated and forced him out.
The perception for the last few years has been that we don't treat our players well and this just adds to it.
I like Richos strong mindedness and the exterior he shows. I believe that initial press release was a bad call.
