Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Its completely different. Yes he's a 20 year old, but he's a 20 year old that many clubs believe is ready to be a starter right now. This is also his 3rd year in first grade.

Hes basically been offered a promotion (starting role) and more money elsewhere. Doesn't matter if you're a footballer, 90% of the population would do the same in their work role.

If he were to leave right now, he would start at a few teams. If he were to stay, he would have to wait until 2027 at the earliest to get a starting role, probably 2028. Thats a long time to wait and a lot of money lost.

What needs to be taken into account is that he would lose a heap of money staying in a back up role as opposed to a starting role. Not only would he get more money immediately, his next contract (in 3-4 years time) would be based on already being a starter for 2-3+ years. If he stayed a back-up, he would get less during that time and even his next contract would be less as he would not have proven himself to be a starter. Staying would impact his long term earning capacity. Galvin was starting week in week out and was getting big money offers to stay or to leave.

I would be devastated if TDS left, but I would completely understand and would not have any negative feelings towards him. He seems like a loyal kid who wants to be here but is unfortunately stuck behind Api.
Doesn’t seem to stop the Jonah Pezets of the world playing reserve grade for years for teams like Melbourne.

Getting the starting gig also didn’t stop Galvin from leaving for less money either.

Have we even released him yet.
No idea!

But i recall gus, baz and kiks photographed before kiks hed left penrith!

Here 'tis:

Gus's network isnt very tight.

And of course, credit to our wtf agents in the field. Risking their lives to ensure we post from a position of knowledge.

No doubt agent 69 was camped under the belmore grandstand for days waiting for this.

Like epstein and prince andrews walk in central park.

The coping part is giving a shit what he gets paid elsewhere.
The only important part of all of this is understanding why he didnt want our contract and what we can do to make sure this doesnt happen again..
Thats been explained here 100 times my lad.

It can be shortened to his subscription to the old saying:

"The grass is greener on the other side."

...and the second part of what I said?
Performing a lessons learned session is not always a happy excercise.

Didn’t like the coach. Like a handful of others that left. It’s becoming an elephant that’s getting hard to ignore.
Only if you’re looking to push an agenda you had before the guy even started.
And who has left because of Benji ? Bateman ? Yes I bet if you’d ask Benji right now about that one quietly , he’d take a massive L on that one . I wouldn’t even be surprised if a conversation has been had between the 2 on that .
And who else ? Stefano ? He was off tot he storm before anything about his clause had even been talked about . Another case of tampering … and he’s still shit . The only reason he’s wearing a blue jersey or even first drop , is because the assistant coach of the blues is the best coach of all time and his current coach . Whos coached him to statistically the worst season since he came into grade . But cool story bro …
You’re the biggest death rider I swear! I swear you absolutely
Love the torture and drama of this place . The masochism meter running at a 9 out of 10 all day following the tigers .

Galvin was requesting releases before Benji even became head coach but go on
he’s wanted out since the day we signed Latu Fainu ….. why ? Because he’s better than him and he knows it . Everything since then is all behaviour that leads backs to that original statement .
Luai comes in …… and confirms Galvins biggest fear . Starts pushing the one we should have been pushing the whole time .
You reckon Gus is as “Galvin is the greatest teenager I’ve ever seen “ when he was visiting Manase at long bay ? You reckon that came up ? Or you reckon replace Lachie —- insert Latu—-.
Like I said in another post . The dogs have been taking Ls to us in recruitment for 18 months . They got Thompson ? We didn’t even go in for him . We got the dogs real number one target in Terrell May .
Everybody talking up the dogs recruitment . We’ve been kicking their are on youth recruitment for the last 18 months . We just haven’t been able to get the results . They will come soon .

You’ve said the same thing to Tucker.
No I haven’t ! I said he’s the biggest dickhead who follows the cowboys and only comes on here to stir shit up . Not an actual tigers supporter . You’re Clearly a tigers supporter. You’re just miserable , and defeated / masochist so you love this shit!
I couldn’t be any more clearer on the distinction.

Koroisau imo is the best hooker in NSW, perhaps the NRL. This from the article below indicates that he doesn't want to bide his time!

"It's up to the Tigers to decide what they want to do, but if Api stays, chances are Tallyn will have to go."

Off ya got then mate

Wayne Bennett confirms interest in former Panthers star Taylan May

Taylan May could soon be back in the NRL, with South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett confirming the club is interested in bringing the former Penrith star to Redfern.

South Sydney supercoach Wayne Bennett has confirmed his interest in Taylan May as the troubled former Panthers star edges closer to an NRL return.

This masthead can reveal May has interest from three clubs, including an English Super League outfit, as the controversial three-quarter looks to resurrect his rugby league career.

The Rabbitohs have emerged as a possible destination for May, with Bennett revealing he is open to throwing the 23-year-old winger or centre a lifeline for a Redfern revival.

The Samoan Test star toured South Sydney’s facilities earlier this week.

And while no deal has been signed at this stage, Bennett says he is in the process of exploring a second chance for May.

“Yes, we’re talking to his management,” Bennett said.

“We wouldn’t be talking to his management if there wasn’t some interest, but we’re just in the stage of talking to him at the moment.

“We’re trying to work things out at the moment.

So we’ll know more next week after we tick a few boxes.”

May was sacked by the Panthers last year following a string of off-field incidents which prompted the four-time premiers to sever ties with the promising outside back.

At the time, May was fighting domestic violence charges and was subject to the NRL’s no-fault stand-down policy, but those charges were dropped in March.

That has opened the door for the prospect of a comeback pending any May deal being rubber-stamped by the NRL’s integrity unit.

May’s manager Ahmad Merhi confirmed several clubs have expressed interest and is confident the tryscoring three-quarter will be approved to play again by the NRL.

“Souths are an option,” Merhi said.

“He has three clubs looking at him and Souths are one of those options.

“Taylan definitely wants to play again.

“He is not subject to any NRL stand-down at the moment and there’s nothing pending on him, so we’ll leave it with the NRL.

“If and when they get a registered contract they can make a decision from there (on whether May returns to the NRL).”

May made his NRL debut for Penrith in 2021 and has scored 17 tries from 30 games, headlined by a breakout 2022 campaign that saw him cross 16 times from 21 appearances.

Bennett is no stranger to saving and rebuilding careers – the NRL Hall-of-Fame coach lured NSW superstar Latrell Mitchell to South Sydney in 2020 after his contract bust-up with the Roosters.

Bennett tried to sign former Warriors prop Russell Packer, who served time in jail, to the Broncos in 2015 and a year later, he issued a lifeline to Matt Lodge at Brisbane following his New York rampage.

May has also been linked with the Wests Tigers in a move that could see him reunite with brother Terrell, who joined the joint venture club this season from the Roosters.

May told Channel 9 he is reformed individual after spending time in a psychiatric ward as he battled suicidal thoughts.

“I feel like I came out of it totally different,” he said.

“I got suicidal and I think that’s fair to say. It’s not a sob story, it’s how I felt.

“It was probably the best thing that could have happened for me, it opened my eyes up to a lot of things – a day in a psych ward felt like a week.

“My name was unknown in the psych ward and I was happy to come out and be unknown. I just didn’t like the person that Taylan was.

“My mindset has changed, my beliefs have changed and I’m a whole different person now.”

When it comes to MH issues you don't just flick a switch and become a different person. It's an ongoing battle. Angus Chrichton took time away from the game and it's possible the Tigers feel Taylan is not ready yet to get back into the NRL grind. I trust Richo and Benji on this. I've been in a psych ward and it took me a couple years to get back into the right mindset.

Nah , I think he’s influenced by the Galvin situation in all kinds of negative ways .
He’s watched this kid , who’s inferior to him talent wise IMO, get propelled to the top of the league and unfairly given a 1 mil contract .
It would be really really hard , to see someone like Galvin get those offers , when you’re TDS. He just needs to accept that the longer he spends getting a proper apprenticeship , the better his career will be as a dummy half .
We just need to get him to understand it’s apples and oranges .
But yea, I don’t know how every kid in that age group , from Ethan strange , to Isaiah Katoa , to TDS aren’t all asking “what the hell is going on “ with the amount Galvin has been offered .
And they’d have a massive point ! He just needs to accept , don’t be in a massive hurry to get your body copping 35-50 car crashes every week for the next 15 plus years. Ease your body into that trauma .

Combined with the Magpies, I’ve supported this club since I was 10, and gone through emotions you couldn’t even imagine. I’ve earned the right to say what I want about this club, as has anyone else who has invested so much emotion and energy into it.
