Like I’m saying …If depends on how cheap you can get Bud away for to another team … no one is taking him at $550k … I dont think it makes sense financially to pay another club like $350-$400k of his wage and then pay for someone else to come on board ….you might just need to live with Bud at the bottom of your squad in 2026 at least …

The problem with that is we would essentially have 4 x 5/8’s all with below average kicking games as the halves on our roster.
We desperately need one genuine halfback with a good, confident kicking game to call on if required.
That’s the season I like the idea of someone like Jake Arthur. I reckon he would only cost around 200k and although he’s never really taken his chances at NRL level, he has been a NSW Cup standout for 3 or so years, has a decent, confident kicking game, is a bigger body for a halve, defends intelligently and solidly, knows how to play straight with good structure and has fitness levels up there with Galvin’s.
I’d say he goes to the UK Super League for bigger money at this stage of his career, but you never know he could possibly consider signing for 12 months to challenge the likes of Latu Fainu, Heath Mason, Talyn Da Silva for a NRL spot in the halves or as a 14.

Aren’t Bud and Latu 7s ? And we know JL can play there if need be

But the problem with your idea of bringing in another guy is that you are paying 5 people now and that we will be spending too much money at the position and it will unbalance the squad .. this is the problem when you overspend on dud players…

I’ve never seen Bud or Latu play anything like a genuine 7 to be honest, even when they wear the 7 on their back.
I hope I’m wrong, but Latu is a running 6 with a very limited kicking game.
I really like him as a running 6 with power, speed and class, but he’s not even close to a 7 from what I’ve seen.

Don’t forget we already have a fullback who has no idea how to kick a ball in general play, that means it’s essential our 6 and 7 can both do it and do it well.

Latu and Luai are the preferred halves pairing now … so let’s see how they go the rest of the year ..if Latu can stay on the field … if they don’t work then I guess they will need to bring in someone else

Kinda like how releasing an overpaid player and replacing him with another player for more money wouldn’t be considered cap relief..

Didn’t ’make it up at all’ it Was mentioned by one of his team mates in a podcast - they wanted to offload Latu and were spewing it cost them Samuela as well (or words to that effect) mentioned on the back of Samuelas year with us.

I’d reckon one of his team mates would have some idea - maybe more than me, maybe even you…

You assume I’m wrong / or making shit up - do you have anything outside your opinion to back up your take on it?

I'd really hope Bula gets a bit of coaching on how to unlock his outside men. He's doing OK but often is passing a little early. Like to see him straighten more before passing.

i’ve been trying to convince everyone on this forum for ages what he is capable of haha , kid can play anywhere he’s just that lethal but i’d say 6 atm .

I have been pro Doueihi & think his D has been improved but the speed isn't there.

He scores close to the line when he put that grubber in & there was a break or two on the cards if he had speed.

Goal kicking also hit & miss.

I assume Taylan to left centre.

Will be interested if they re-sign him. At best would takes bird utility bench spot.

I've always been pro Benji, but that was his worst coaching performance to date.

Picked one prop on the bench and didn't even play him.

Had 4 different players play lock during the game (Seyfarth, Latu, Bird and Murray), with 3 on the field at one time.

Major mismatch in the air between Skelton and To'o and there was no instruction to exploit that mismatch.

Ivan had similar opportunities and made sure his team took advantage of them. Benji needs to be much better and learn from these mistakes.

Did you hear Gus Gould today refer to Latu as a 7 as his best position?
