Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Cobbo’s management has fielded expressions of interest from four NRL rivals, including Sydney-based clubs, and is keen to finalise his future in the coming months. The 23-year-old has been linked with the Dragons, Sydney Roosters and Wests Tigers.
He’s definitely a Roosters type signing. Rabbitohs or Roosters is probably where he winds up.

I get not wanting to lose Tallyn but Api has been the heart & soul of this club since he's been here and right now is still by far the better player. My personal view I'd extend Api for an extra year with a view of moving him to the coaching staff once he's done. I'd also extend Tallyn till the end of 2029 & workout a plan with him moving forward that outlines we want you spending another year under Api in 2026 while loaning you out to another club in 2027, then by 2028 you & Haywood can share the hooker duties with you being the starter & playing majority of the minutes.

Keep in mind you are talking about a season down the track. He still has another full season. A lot can change between now and then. He’ll be 34. You can’t prioritise someone at that age.

Re Roosters - I would think if Manu is coming back then Cobbo would be unlikely. They now have a number of top-line centres and wingers to the point where Dom Young was considered surplus.

If we are competing with the likes of the Dragons we would have to be in with a red hot crack. I would think the Eels would come in for him too.

What do you throw at him $$ wise?

I love Api.....however, the reality is that TDS should be more than ready to take his spot as a starter in 27. He has the remainder of this year all of next year and 2 full preseasons before he laces up the boots as our starting 9. He is currently not that far off and still has plenty of time to develop. If we extend Api and TDS leaves well that sends a message to our younger players, and no its not like the Galvin situation, its obvious TDS wants to stay. I don't like how this has played out, where his manager is holding us to ransom, however Api needs to understand that if he does extend it will be to play second fiddle to TDS. I would say the fact Benji is getting him 80 mins in cup is an indicator that he is serious about developing TDS...he gets a few games back to back in firsts to get a taste, then heads back to cup for conditioning and development. I don't like him sitting on the bench week in week out and coming on for 15 or 20mins, it will stunt his development.

I’ve argued this up hill and down dale …. People here don’t want to hear it ….the expectations are that Api will be the first athlete to defeat Father Time

We are all speculating here about tiny parts of the whole story that gets put in the media

I have heard he has 3 ( or maybe 4) school age kids and is very settled in Brisbane in the dream house … there is speculation of Brisbane offering him a coaching deal too but only 1 yr playing extension

Apparently the Tigers money is more and if it is two years that may sway him to move …

Time will tell…
Correct.

That's the entire purpose of most of the threads on here, to speculate on the likelihood, and/or outcome, of certain events involving our club.

Reyno has 4 kids, mostly school age. Certainly would be a considerable factor.
