Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I love Api.....however, the reality is that TDS should be more than ready to take his spot as a starter in 27. He has the remainder of this year all of next year and 2 full preseasons before he laces up the boots as our starting 9. He is currently not that far off and still has plenty of time to develop. If we extend Api and TDS leaves well that sends a message to our younger players, and no its not like the Galvin situation, its obvious TDS wants to stay. I don't like how this has played out, where his manager is holding us to ransom, however Api needs to understand that if he does extend it will be to play second fiddle to TDS. I would say the fact Benji is getting him 80 mins in cup is an indicator that he is serious about developing TDS...he gets a few games back to back in firsts to get a taste, then heads back to cup for conditioning and development. I don't like him sitting on the bench week in week out and coming on for 15 or 20mins, it will stunt his development.
I think it's a Riccio beat-up. I can't see anything but common sense between Richo, Benji with Api, TDS.

2026 - Plan for Api 55-60 mins, TDS 20-25 mins off bench. Share goal kicking duties.
2027 - Plan for TDS to start games. Roughly 40 mins game time each. Potential for Api to stay on-field as a small middle. Api retains club captaincy and team co-captaincy with Romey.

Simple.

is Riccio the only person saying this ? This story has been around a couple of weeks now …

I wouldn’t be surprised if the story has some legs and one is on the way out in 27… particularly with the Bears sniffing around

Great. But it shouldn’t be justified that the club should bend over backwards not to upset their delicate nature.
Noone is suggesting the club should handle them with kid gloves, just that it needs to be managed as a possible issue that could arise. Seriously doubt it would cause any issues though. We have Galvin chucking the towel in and he didn't have brothers here. Issues can arise from anyone.

That would be common sense, I’m not convinced the decision makers have it.

where would he fit ? turuva and Skelton have mortgages on the wing and Cobbo defensively isn’t up to it at centre .
Centre would be my spot for him but look at the depth chart - Who plays fullback if Bula goes down? Who goes into centre if To'a goes down? Skelton?

At the moment our depth is Staines, Naden and a still developing Luke Laulilii. Next year it will be May and Makasini too, who would both be touch and go as legitimate options for 2026 imo.

Riccio maintains offer to Reynolds 2 years …although says 60/40 he stays at Broncos

Also said that Taylan May’s train and trial contract had to be approved by the WT board ..

Also mentions Benji v Richo debate re Api/TDS … says they are leaning towards re-signing Api and TDS will leave ( not sure how he is getting a running update of the internal discussions?)

Note … if you want to listen here …there is about 10 mins of other rubbish before they talk about the Tigers ..

David Riccio is a giant POS ! He has zero gods outside of what he gets from sucking on Moses’ dimple pimple ! I hate how much he’s rubbing it in , with his masters little boy at the bulldogs , and his ugly head is crying to be uppercut .
Ready I can cop. That guy ….. looks like a rat

Agreed. The club has to try and recruit him.

Which one of the favourites is he replacing?
May
Bula
Turuva
Makasini
Skelton
If you're buying Cobbo, It won't be just one of them that leaves.

Does everyone know Cobbo is chasing a million dollars?
Would be like buying Latrell without the Highlight Reel

- Which I'm certain most here would baulk at.

Response I’m tipping …Crickets chirping…

Some people here are like kids in a toy shop …. They want everything …

How they fit into the team ( and salary cap) is a secondary consideration

If the report is accurate, and club is linked and has made an offer, isn't it logical that provision has or is being made for his possible arrival?

You spend a hell of a lot of time on this forum deriding other's thoughts and suggestions in this thread you claim to hate without offering much of substance yourself Tom. Who would you be recruiting?

Makasini is coming through - May is here now...
Bulas at the back.

I can think of better ways to spend the million Cobbo thinks he's worth.
At a million - no

But centre on 750-800k would be my spot for him. Look at the depth chart - Who plays fullback if Bula goes down? Who goes into centre if To'a goes down? Skelton?

Keep in mind you are talking about a season down the track. He still has another full season. A lot can change between now and then. He’ll be 34. You can’t prioritise someone at that age.
It's only at WT's where youngsters should be handed the spot & not have to earn it. Blake Mozer was happy to re-sign at Brisbane (has just as much wraps on him as TDS does) even though he's behind Hunt, Walters & Paix. Harry Grant didn't start regularly being a starter in the NRL until he was 22-23 so why should Tallyn just be handed the spot? You prioritise the guy who's currently playing better & has a bigger impact on the team.

Good post.

Why do we assume that Adam Reynolds has either the skills or desire to be a mentor to anyone ? ot the Latu wants to be mentored by Reynolds ?
to be honest his wants are irrelevant its what best for the club. And reynolds is on record many times saying he likes working with the younger players.

Other then that nothing
