$50 Million reason Wests Tigers are prepared to quit Campbelltown.

Lidcombe was very intimidating for opposing teams and fan in the 70s...i think we kept parra winless for 11 years there. The thing is it was our one and only home during my early years....we knew most times whether win or.lose teams coming there would go home thankful that was it for that sesson.

You dont get that feeling playing all over the joint.

You probably felt that at cambo maybe but i dont.
I know the lansdscapes changed hugely since then but Im envious of teams like raiders nq penrith with their one home ground.
For 25 years weve tried to appease half the fan base in one way or another to our detriment imo

So you made me lose 5 minutes of my life looking it up.
The Magpies went 7-3 at Campbo in 1991 and 8-3 in 1992.
Sitting on the hill those years was an experience in itself , the Campbo crowd was rabid.

So true but I was of the belief that Cambo would end up with around 9 games and LO 3 games

It's so important home ground advantage

Idk what the fixation is with one home ground. I mean, you don’t want 3 or 4. But there is no reason in a perfect world if LO and CSS were both up to scratch that we can’t play out of both permanently. Proof of that is the Dragons. Never have heard their supporters whine about alternating between Kogarah and the Gong.
it is only tigers fans who complain about multiple home grounds, dragons do not and they play out of wollongong and kogarah.

Tigers is self inflicted as we play a Magic round game and used to play a Tamworth game bloody stupid

Was that when we had wok..langers..thomas farrar etc etc
Yeah good team then and yes quite a fortress....i lived at maroubra then and wasnt driving didnt get to many Cambo games

Is another thing against Cambo, the notion that our 'owners' don't like the place. They love in the inner city, Ashfield.

Isn't there is some type of riff between the two 'Wests' areas. So, should they wear some of the problems of Cambo?

Yeah they dont exchange xmas cards
Ashfield have never been about RL

It sucks from a history perspective - but it is a compelling way forward for a JV that has been backwards for so long.

Commbank is actually a pretty good stadium. I like it. And if the tigers are humming I can see it being a great stadium with atmosphere to play out of...

We often complain about getting the big fish, keeping players or losing all the time but realistically it comes down to cash & our home ground setup.

It sucks but until someone makes the tough call to play at 1 stadium for all but 1-2 home games with that stadium having high corporate opportunities whilst driving revenue into the club we have no chance to change our direction in being consistently high performing team.

I get the nostalgia & atmosphere side absolutely love it - but I hate losing more.

We can’t loose Cambo , it’s where a huge catchment is and we need to work on he development of school interaction , local, club support , I know we are doing stuff but Cambo is still a ground we can play at , if we were winning more games people will just turn up , I can’t see people saying he seats aren’t soft enough or the pie line is to long , it’s all part of the game day , go early , eat early fixes that , and take a blanket to sit over the seat if ya bum is not up to the plastic seats or Timber seats , gee I went to Leichhardt many times as a kid and it was Timber slats , hot dog and a pies washed down with a coke , exceptional days , harden up folks

My preference would be a revamped Campbelltown, I'm attached to the joint and miss regularly going there now I live on the Mid North Coast.
Ideally it would be something similar to the set up at Newcastle, but with at the very least a 30k capacity.

However, if it means a permanent presence in the Macarthur, if it has to be closer to Liverpool to attract the Bulldogs and others to play out there with an incorporated entertainment precinct around making it more much more attractive as a venue for government spending, then I'm all for it.

I spent over 3 decades sitting on the old seats next to the scoreboard at Lidcombe (where you could get the best game day hot dogs or an all too easy to eat Janson's Pie).
I also used to sit on the concourse in front of the grandstand at Leichhardt, the southern hill at Penrith Park, on the seats at the halfway at Brookvale, the northern hill at at Shark Park, on the halfway at Belmore likewise at Henson, under the big trees at North Sydney, on the concourse at the old showground (when the chooks played there), at the southern end of Seifert Oval & Canberra Stadium) on the halfway on the concourse of the Western stand at Newcastle.....
.....I also lived in Housing Commision at Airds and Bradbury for 10 years, I climbed Mt Druitt and survived 😂being originally a Rooty Hill boy....so I'm used to roughing it!

Gus wants Campbo for sure, not as a stadium but for the catchment.

He's been saying Dogs should target it for over 5 years.

Let's be honest, most of our players will be coming from Southwest. I don't care much about the stadium but we should be doing as much community participation as possible.
The vast majority of NSW based Pasifika players come from Western Sydney, especially the South West in the Macarthur & Liverpool region. Further North there's plenty from the Mt Druitt - St Marys area.

Penrith has really tapped into the psyche of the region, Wests Tigers almost had that back in the first 10 years, lack of investment in the region plus an unsuccessful 15 years does tend to lose the community and its support.

Kudos to those who turned up at Campbelltown Stadium in droves both late last season and early this season.

Has any supporter of this club? Or Balmain and Wests.
While more of a mere park than stadium, between 1978 and 1981 Lidcombe Oval was indeed a fortress, the opposing visiting teams hated the place for 3 reasons:

1) Playing against arguably rugby leagues most brutal forward pack.

2) The ground was hard for opposing teams gain to gain lateral perception (with the exception of a couple) due to its oval shape out to the bike track.

3) Tommy started the tradition of hosing out the visiting change room wetting everything down. 😂

It's pretty clear we need to return to Lidcombe.
We'll pack the huge Tommy stand every week.
We can set up tables on the bike track for the corporates and offer a rugby league immersion experience.
I'm an ideas man.
With Rick Wayde reprising his role as ground announcer? We'd need to train him up as a modern ground MC and get him playing hits from the 70s 😂 2SM giving out promo gear, have Steve back out front of the gates selling the best game day hot dogs and the canteens pie ovens full of Janson's Pies, Sausage Rolls and Pasties......boy I'm salivating thinking about that 🤣

Note that the Bulldogs were VERY keen on building a Stadium in Liverpool.....away from there traditional area in order to be close to the talent of the Macarthur and Liverpool and a growing fan base as kids moved from places like Belmore and Wiley Park to cheaper housing in Liverpool, Campbelltown and surrounds.

They saw (and still see) the enormous opportunity to thrive both financially and on the field. They would rather play at a stadium in the SW than Homebush for all but the biggest games.

I like your idea of the Bulldogs and WT's sharing a stadium.
