Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I'm not sure the market is as strong as hoped for Tallyn. Reed Mahoney is going to shake free. I'd say Tartak, who the Tigers have a great working relationship with, is going to see if he can get a great deal for Tallyn before the real good money gets sunk into Mahoney.

I still think the timing of Seibold's removal will dictate where Mahoney goes- he's the perfect fit for what Mick Ennis bangs on about.

Really, only Knights & Cowboys facing a real need at #9 next season.
You would think the bears may be interested aswell. Gives him another year with us though

ultimately if the club chooses api , fine , whatever . why is tallyn given permission to negotiate with rival clubs NOW ?

if this is anything than a loan deal we are a meme club and do things other clubs don’t
The club isn’t choosing api . They’re choosing api for now , and Haywood for the future . And Haywood is carving flegg as much as TDS is carving KOE.
I always thought that the real issue would be when a bd how we progressed Haywood . TDS rightly or wrongly is now looking over his shoulder.
It seems the timeline fits way better for Haywood than it does for TDS. It really sux that he can’t be more patient .
Watching Galvin get a mil a year , when you’re a better footy player , must sting as well .

Cowboys will go very heavy for him . I can see 650k plus to live in Townsville .
If TDS is goes there to fix his defence though , I’ve got news for him and it’s not good . Defence in Townsville is about as rare and a chilly winters day .

wtf is going on?? This is insane

Looks like TDS is already out the door.

Be nice for fans to have some clarity about our direction moving forward.
I dont know and certainly dont know what has been going on but it has been said here before that a transition plan was being worked out but obviously both Api & TDS would have to agree to it AND that TDS should not dictate to the club especially as a 20 y.o. WT do have other options to learn off Api going forward, should Api want to stay longer.

Very basically, player dictating to the club (noting his strong connection with Galvin and his shennanigans), see you later and dont let the door hit you on way out. If we can get KPP earlier to assist with our forward strength for the remainder of this season why not? People here have often remarked on our poor forward depth for this season.

A 19 year old Haywood is nowhere near as good as Da Silva at 19.
Da Silva has gone back to NSW Cup and dominated, played a huge part in getting a team previously struggling to compete to become highly competitive and winning most of the games he’s played in.
I wouldn’t pay 600k for Talyn just yet, but he’s a must keep, even if it means we allow Api to go and play for the Perth Bears.
Previous reports advised Richo is heavily in favour of keeping Talyn, while Benji was wanting to keep Api even if it meant we lose Talyn.
It will be very interesting to see how this plays out, but I can’t see it doing us any good long term if we continue favouring older ageing players over our emerging stars.

So you saying TDS should be more patient behind Api, so Haywood can then ultimately squeeze him out ..when Haywood is ready for the big time?

How many times we seen players talked up in Flegg that never show anything in the NRL …

How is Feledy doing now?

Some who are talking down Luke will be the first to be angry at the club if he signs elsewhere. The kid is 18 and has been coming along really nicely in Cup and has not looked out of place in first grade on the whole. He is a great prospect (although he is just a prospect at the moment).
Exactly, so lets not put the cart ahead of the horse.
He is worth persisting with

let's hope the outcome is a swap with KPP for the remainder of the year on loan, and the reason he is talking to other clubs is to see whether our extension offer is competitive. I would hope that the idea is for us to lock him up longer term before he goes to Newcastle as a starter and potentially raises his value in the market. That would be smart business from the club. If he does not extend than no loan deal.

Man you’re on fire lately … you’ve got some wild takes ! He’s every bit as good as TDS is/ was at that age . Especially between the ears , and defensively . My take is , TDS is more Damien Cook best case - Jacob liddle worst case .
Haywood is Farah —/ maybe Cameron Smith … I’d say Matt Ballin worst case .
I guess it just depends ont he type of hooker you want . If you want the crafty , extra half type . Or you want the poking your head through , attacking retreating defenders type .
For me the latter , rarely works in nrl . You get maybe 1-2 amazing runs a game at most , and you trade that off with poor goal line attack , and less structure though the games .
The former , you lack penetration in broken field ,and less explosive moments , but you trade that off for more assured structured footy , and clever ruck manipulation.
I’m not saying either can’t develop the either style just the the contrast .
For me I’ve always been about the Benny Elias/ Buderus /farah and the best ever Cameron smith type , rather than the Damien cook or even the Steve Walter’s / mick Ennis , Robson tough nut type .
Thats a long way to say I completely disagree with you.
