Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Who are you proposing who would make us a much better team ?

There aren’t many off contract now…. Although I have mentioned before the likes of Bunty Afoa perhaps … in addition they need a starting 13 and reserve backrower for the bench … the problem is that we don’t really know what players are getting shopped by other clubs ..

You fill those three holes then you push Bird, Twal and Seyfarth out of your best 17…and they become your first line depth rather than every week players

Bunty would be a good replacement for Royce Hunt as he is a strong, powerful ball runner, struggles in defence, but still a long way ahead of Royce with his fitness levels and defending.
I agree it would be nice to upgrade the likes of Twal and Seyfarth, but when looking around each rival club, there is not too much better when looking at the fringe forwards to come off the bench or be players 18-20.
Demps has suggested a few good ones that could be realistic possibilities, but we still need a certain element of defensive work rate in our 17 that would be lost if Twal and Seyfarth were not in it.

Yes ..that was my thinking with Afoa to replace Hunt … someone to come on and hammer the try line a bit which seems lacking …he is behind plenty of young guys at the Warriors …they were supposedly making him available to ESL last offseason…so the WT should be all over him …

Brendan Hands @ The Eels.
Came through the grades at Penrith.

Only on contract this year and next.
Not getting much of a look at Parra currently.

Not a bad player imo.
Worth a shot to play back up whilst we develope Heywood.
don’t think he is any better than Tristan Hope

Watch it.... That's all you can do.
The expectation from the fan base is so Low round here.

I don't know how many times I've seen it stated that
'Well, We've won more games than last year' Like it's something to brag about, I don't get it?

We bought in 4-6 Players from top 4 sides - That's a decent chunk of an NRL side.
We didn't go through what we've been through - And import who we've imported
'Just' to win a couple more games than last year....
We bought them here to challenge for the comp.

Especially this year, Penrith were looking at the spoon this time last month - Now they're in the 8

We've spent half of the season in heated debate over weather we'll let our best young talent go,
For what? Roster spots (To fill with no one) Cap relief
(That we only ever use to pay players to play somewhere else)
There's folks in the organisation higher than you or I grabbing at anything to try save face,
Is it really that different.

I don't suspect we'll challenge for the 8 this year,
And when we don't - Some real questions regarding this 'new' direction need to be not asked
- but answered.

There's lots of talk, It needs to get to the Park....
Yea agreed mate . But I don’t think it’s low expectations from most . I think it’s pragmatism . The 2023 team at least was one of the worst in modern memory . The scars of that are still being felt . Bad decisions had led to even worse ones culminating in the too much too soon Harold Matt’s team, not having their expectations tempered , now all expecting 600k plus contracts .
We’re doing our best to botch that generation . We are just very very lucky that the next couple of years of both junior teams each has thier own handful of kids who are just as talented in makasini , hayward, havea jr , the Tautoa brothers , Duncombe , Brooke’s , Tannous , Godinet . Along with the Fainus .
It’s not all doom and gloom , but at some point he club needs to do a deep dive into what happened with that Harold Matt’s team re. Attitude , promises , expectations and really performance and development . We’ve still got the lauliii brothers , so it’s not all lost with that generation .
We really should have kept Conti now I feel . He’s not elite talent , but I feel like he will end up Lachlan Illias level . Hopefully we get him back .
