Tallyn Da Silva #270

No it didn’t …. People had no idea . You weren’t the only one saying this stuff so get off your high horse . You jump around and spin to create tension and position yourself as some paradigm of football intelligence.
The club saw it this way as well re Latu>>>> Galvin
It wasn’t “bro” culture is alienating the white guys. If it does then your a dickhead as a white guy. I spent most of my childhood playing in predominantly islander footy teams , and only once with 1 coach … not the playing group … did I feel like I was on the outside looking in .
From my experience , which I’m sure isn’t the same for everyone , islander culture in a footy team is inclusive . Sure there were plenty of times I didn’t get the joke , or I was the but of the joke , but even if I didn’t understand i never felt like it was mean spirited , and there was always a seat in the car if I—- as in me , as in my choice , wanted to include myself .
So you’re racist , redneck NQLD , uneducated nonsense, if it does have foundations with reality and they do agree with you …as in the Galvin family , well mate you’re the problem and so are they.
Because Poly boys will continue to be the future of the nrl , and the percentages much like black people in nfl will continue to go higher and higher .
Sorry, but claiming the club rated Latu higher than Galvin is complete fiction. Revisionist history. Who was the one Richo constantly salivated over and talked up as the future of the club? Whose family was he trying to butter up? Who was his golden boy? It wasn’t Latu. I’m sure the club is very happy with Latu atm and will put whatever eggs left over from Api’s basket into Latu’s. But they would have sacrificed him in a minute if it meant Galvin would play his entire career here.

I’d expect richo would apply the butter to those who he thinks require it the most

Keep telling yourself that. If you look back at the facts, there is zero indication that Latu was rated higher. It’s why he was getting 20 mins off the bench at best when he wasn’t in KOE.
thank god the club shot itself in the foot with that one, latu is the more skillful player and if we had kept LG we would’ve lost latu, sione and samuela. one dumb decision by the club might’ve actually saved us

Getting tired of the narrative that the brothers are tied at the hip and that’s treated like a good thing. The last thing this club needs is a new generation of a boys club.

The club saw Latu as better than Galvin, which is why we offered Galvin $6 million over 5 years? Come on.

Tucker is 100% spot on here sadly. The narrative only changed after the fact.

It's also plainly obvious that the dominant culture in the team is now a poly heavy culture lead by Luai, May, Turuva etc along with the fact we have the only islander coach in the league.

Galvin clearly didn't fit in and even before the bullying saga, I doubt he was made to feel welcome. It could've been Galvin's ego, could've been Luai's influence, who knows.

Da Silva's might not be as bad a fit from a personality perspective, but after having seen what happened to Galvin along with Koroisau being potentially extended, he doesn't want stick around unless he has a first grade gig guaranteed. Totally understandable.

Comparing playing for a junior footy team to a professional first grade team in 2025 isn't apt. As a junior you play on the weekend and train maybe once or twice a week during the week. As a professional, you're with these guys for 60+ hours a week in the season, from training, to matchday, to functions and sponsorship engagements, to travel. You have to get along with and be accepted by a large number of the squad at first grade level.

We've seen time and time again that talented teams can fall apart when there's something amiss off the field, whereas a team that isn't as talented that plays as a team and is in sync on and off the field overperforms.

well they’re not because sione was already here before them and they were willing to stay at manly, and they’ve watched their brother sit on the sidelines for two years with someone else in his position and haven’t thrown their toys out of the cot

Can you please define what this means?

In regards to the theory about our so called poly culture, if you go through the squads of each club in the completion, the poly representation is as high as it has ever been. It’s not like the 80’s or 90’s when islanders stood out cos they were the minority. They make up half a club’s squad these days,

Definitely. But our entire spine and leadership group are, as well as our coach.

Without counting, I reckon we'd be close to having the most Islanders in our first 17 of any team in the league.

Not inherently a bad thing, but it can go some way to explaining why a couple of young white guys felt somewhat uncomfortable.
