Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Anyone expecting big things this year (like a deep run into the semis) have been unrealistic in their expectations

2025 was always a rebuilding season..

The 5 losses in a row whilst not great doesn't factor in the adversity we had to deal with during this run.. I asked copilot to help me explain this, because no one seems to want to listen

“Numbers are incredibly useful, but they only tell part of the story. They’re like a snapshot frozen in time—accurate in what they show, but silent about the world around them. Context, like external events, human behavior, or even timing, adds dimension and nuance that pure data can’t capture.

For example, if a rugby team’s win-loss ratio looks average on paper, the numbers won’t show that their key playmaker was out injured or that they played three top-tier teams in a row. Ignoring those factors would lead to the wrong conclusion.

So while numbers are a great starting point, it’s context that turns them into meaningful insight.”
When was our key playmaker out injured during this run of losses? Pretty sure he has only missed 2 games counting tonight? Also we havent played 3 top teir teams in a row all season. Weve had a reasonable run so far. The tough run is upon us now though...

This is why context is important 🙂

The question I asked copilot:
"Can you help me explain to someone that relying on numbers alone doesn't take into consideration context from external factors"

It some how used rugby as an example without me asking...

Its just highlighting how there are factors outside the numbers that one must consider .

Obviously.
What is the point that you were trying to make though?
What in particular were you concerned about that a balanced debate wasnt being held in?

Canterbury have taken 18 months to go from shit to great. We’re still wallowing in the mire 10 plus years on.
They took 18 months, but how many years before that were they s#€*.
Plus how many clubs could have got rid of TPJ from an $850,000 contract at no cost and their club captain suddenly retires at no cost (but happens to get a club job).
The rort continues for ‘some’ clubs

We were up 18-6 with 25 mins to go

Iirc Sharks scored their only try up to that point on the stroke of half time

Their 2nd try got a lucky bounce off a kick. Not every 80 minute performance needs to be a 36-12 shellacking of the opposition… the final 25 mins of that game was the most determined win I’ve seen from this club in a long time. We should have a few more of those wins to our name (Warriors, Raiders, Penrith and Cows)

We give up a try on halftime most weeks … so that’s not unlucky to me in this particular game

Determined win sure … but still a lucky one IMO,,,

You getting the halftime thing ? Anyone confirm the number of times this season?

Our NSW Cup team would have asked more questions of the Raiders last week and as you know, our NSW Cupvteam is not the best.
I’m quietly confident we score at least 2 tries tonight, but as I say, defending when under the pump at Brookvale will be our problem.
Well that comment was way off the mark, our attack is much worse than last week and that’s some accomplishment.
No idea how an NRL team can attack so poorly two thirds of the way through a season.

Last night finished 8-6...using the above logic, are both those teams poor in attack? Genuinely curious
