The other thing people forget about the cap is that there is a salary cap 'floor'. That means clubs HAVE to spend at least 95% of the almost 12mil cap. The new TV deal will also push the cap up very very quickly.
Some clubs will give experienced and longer serving players a little more, as they would prefer to give them the money than younger guys or players who are in and out of first grade. Unfortunately it seems that Benji has lost his way a little and is making personal decisions on emotion more so than strategic long term vision.
500k for Seyfarth isn't a killer, as in two years that will probably even be the starting point for bench players given the cap and market demand for players. Quite a few teams have guys in the 500k+ range as bench players. 500k in 2027 will be what 300k was in 2023/2024.
