Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Our biggest problem I believe is the support and resources Benji has in his stable. Employing his mates as assistants is simply not good enough. We need experienced assistant coaches.

Benji can clearly get the boys motivated, is charasmatic and has some pull in the player market.

This is the one area of the Galvin saga that I could see from Galvin's point. The coaching staff is sub par, and as a young up and coming player, you want to be coached by the best with good resources.
It goes to the biggest issue we have got and always have had, no matter the structure or how many, we have got useless deadbeat owners who put bugger all money into the joint, were the poverty team of the comp. Until we start getting reliable injection of money into the place we won't be able to compete, Hbg need to start to either throw money into the joint to help it build up. Or privatise, but not just to anyone, has to be someone who understands success creates more value in their investment, they will inject the needed funds into the joint. Until then we're just a Hbg tax write-off. We have a boardroom now that knows how to use the funds, but no funds to use.

We don't want people around that don't want to be around.

They've made that clear.
TDS, who I think is a good kid, appeared distracted the other night and obviously with his personal belief in himself could be considered [by team mates - possibly] as disrespect.

We don't need any more bully claims.
All the best Tallyn.
I hate Parra, don't like you any more either. 😒
Can’t expect to take the spot of someone in a losing team. Teammates might think it’s disrespectful, but does that mean they think they are entitled to positions regardless of performance.

i think the club has done the right thing chosing To sign Api on and its a shame they couldn't convince Tallan to stay.

It is indefensible however that the club have allowed him to leave 18 months early for absolutely no benefit whatsoever. Is it to keep Tartak onside?

Im just flabbergasted. This, Galvin and 6 losses on the trot with a very poor showing against a spoon rival has me feeling like i've seen this movie before.
It is interesting. I have noticed a drop in Api’s performance between when he first arrived and now. What will he look like in 2 or 3 years time.

I am really torn over the direction of the club.

On one hand, we seem very clear on the character of players we keep at the club. You have to want to be here and if not, see you later. That takes guts given the money and ego in pro sport. We have also seen players dropped for their poor application and given spells in Cup to work on it. Again, not that easy to live with as a club but important. I think both of these are healthy and a change from the past.

However, it is coming at the cost of our results in the short term. We had a lack of depth and it has gotten worse. There are no guarantees that we will replace those who left with similarly talented players or better. And the coach isn't Ivan Cleary, capable of getting lesser players to be play above their level.

The fans need a few signings and a clear direction. All Richo has said most recently is we won't sign players for the sake of it but at this stage he may need to.
That won’t work. No one wants to be here unless we overpay massively or no one else wants them

What boggles my mind is noone is mentioning that imo Api should have told Benji he will go to the bench and help Tallyn along and take a paycut to make it happen so the club won't lose a 10 year first grader. Isn't that what leaders do. Unless there more behind the scenes we don't know about and the club wanted Tallyn out.

Elephant in the room is that seems to be a click developing in the club that some of those that were our future 6 months are not part of.

It’s a double edged sword breeding this culture where we’re signing all these sets of brothers. Even people here are acknowledging if we upset one, we run the risk of upsetting the lot. Or if one leaves, they all do.

Yes and he’s like a fish out of water when asked to play halfback.
Plenty want to blame Heath Mason for last weeks debacle where we had no idea what we were doing iin attack until Doueihi stepped into the halves midway through the 2nd half, but if we want to stop playing favourites it was Api having no idea what he was doing at 7 which was the main reason why our attack looked so lost.

I said before the game people would blame Mason, like it was his decision to go to fullback. And that’s what they did.
