It recently came to light that the eels were involved with illegal third party payments to Anthony Watmough and another player (can’t remember who) back in 2015. It came to light when the construction company through which the payments were facilitated was being wound up. The liquidator discovered the payments and the email correspondence supporting the illegality of them (at least in NRL salary cap terms). As far as I am aware, the NRL took no action. No doubt it was under a different administration but that is poor by the NRL imo. Same thing happened when Mark Gasnier’s brother took him to court a decade ago. Evidence of illegal third party payments facilitated by the dragons was presented. The NRL didn’t even acknowledge it. The NRL would prefer an uneven playing field and no drama than a level playing field and the bad press it would take to get it there.

I think with da Silva going they will frontload his contract for the rest of this season & possibly next so in 2027 & 2028 he won't be a burden on the cap.

If you believe what they say in the forum, the blame for poor defence and attack falls on the defence and attack coaches. Would he not have had a role to play? Either way, he's not coming, so for me personally it's not worth discussing.

It will be within the ceiling of expenditure mentioned by Richardson in the Da Silva article. The club is working to a plan and Koroisau's extension imo would have already been agreed upon (that is just my view).

There's supposedly a lot of money in the cap for this season right? There's a minimum to spend (95% floor), and if they pay the full cap for this year, then several players will be front loaded this year which leaves more to spend next season and beyond.

yeah we must have a lot of cap space, considering we were offering LG $1m for 5 years, that’s free so far plus any front loaded money from api etc. we should expect quite a few signings to come.

They are like a old couple I meet in Rome years ago so old and happy they saved all there life's to go on a European trip but when the got there they had already spent there youth saving for it ... wasting the best years of there life they got old fat and sick and struggling to walk

Gotta disagree with you on that one paws Hodgson has been a rubbish appointment... he's been a failure as a coach everywhere he's been & that track record is looking like it'll continue at WT's
