Heamasi Makasini

You gotta love Wests Tigers fans 🤔

I’ve been watching big Mak come through the Magpies system for three or four years now and yes, he’s a genuine talent.

But to hang the clubs future on a kid who this weekend is lining up to play his first ever game against grown men ... that’s desperation personified 🤣

Your comments shouldn't be directed at fans. It wasn't fans who stated this:

"Heamasi is as talented a kid as I’ve seen in my 30 years of working in rugby league, and I don’t say that lightly."

"He’s special. He’s a major part of what we’re doing moving forward. Benji has a huge rap on him. He’s not only a magnificent athlete, but he’s a really humble kid from a great family."

"We’ve signed him until the end of 2028. You have to see him with the ball in his hand to appreciate what I’m saying. There’s no downside to him at all."

I'll let you guess who these quotes are from. 🤔

Im extremely excited by the prospect of Makasini. I have watched him through Matts, SG and also play union at Newington. He is definitely a talent and his skill set is very hard to compare. It is rare we see someone who hits like Jorge Taufua but can run as fast as Coates and evade and break off tackles like GI. The best player comparison I have heard is Israel Folau (Shoutout Wests tigers life).
I think a good measure of these CAS/GPS/ISA kids is if union is after them too. Makasini had RA. French rugby and Japanese rugby lined up to my knowledge.
Despite this I am strongly against him debuting this year. Despite playing SG this year he is still 17 turning 18 which is just way too young. I would love him to finish the year playing cup get another uninterrupted (by school) preseason with first grade. It is true though he is too good for Flegg but still needs time running around with the big boys in cup.
Would be a shame too see another prospect rushed into first grade because we gave up on our first grade side.
