Latu Fainu #282

The biggest thing beyond his skill and strength and smarts is his heart. What a player.

What I want to see from him is him really taking the team on his shoulders. When he injects himself he is so threatening, at other times he's to the side and not organising and the team seems to get a bit chaotic again. He's the sort of player you want everything to go through and I think he just needs that bit of maturity and experience to learn where to put his players and how he wants the set to go. Obviously that comes with time and experience.

But we have ourselves one hell of a player. I've never seen a half defend with as much impact as him. Maybe johns would sometimes come up with hits as good as him.

I'd also add that doueihi really played off him and created for him well. They anticipated each others move in a way we haven't seen for years in our halves.

Great game from Latu.

We have yet to see him and Luai together and that excites me to think of the threats we could produce. Samuela looked better with Latu’s combination and said he played a lot of juniors with Samuela which could do well for the rest of this season and beyond. I think Latu will have a field day next season with KPP as well as his brother running through holes.

I did miss a heart beat when he stayed down after the try saving tackle but looked to be a burner.

We need to beat the Warriors next week which Is doable without Metcalfe and then a packed Leichhardt for the Titans.

So much potential, I'm excited for him.

Just a couple of comments though:

1. Wish I saw him kicking more, he's got a mean boot on him.
2. Maybe it's his injury history but I'm always worried when he comes out of a tackle or gets tackled that he's injured. I hope that he does a lot of S&c over the pre season.

He's got all the skills, hope he can play the rest of the year injury free.

I would much rather he does little kicking as kicking puts a lot of strain on your hamstrings in your follow through.

The most impressive thing for me today was when nagalskjdaowijdasd scored and latu then put luke inside him to take the match up. Thats a player that wants the smoke. He then made the next tackle which he turned over huge play
There was a moment in the first half, Teddy was almost through and he made a great legs tackle. If the tackle isn’t made, it most likely leads to a try. Not to mention his try saver on the winger. Commentators praised the players overall, but that was him, coming across and putting his body on the line.
