I don't disagree. He doesn't make my top 40 or 50 even, but credit where it's due. He held tight defensively which is job number 1.

Attack wise, we seemed to be fine without his input, but without a doubt I'd much rather have a guy that threatens the line AND can defend.

Honestly, my assessment is he was just holding on and gave absolutely everything he could within his limited talent.

Saukuru seems to have revelled since his move to the edge in flegg . Hopefully next year , he dominates koe and puts pressure to get a bench spot . We need guys pushing through to make guys like Seyfarth 18/ 19 man

If a choice to extend either Staines / Naden, I'd pick Staines every time picking between the 2. He wants to compete and at least on the surface happy with the club and his place in it. Naden has had too many chances and too many ill disciplined actions whereas Staines has been solid and responsible.

Charlie has really given his all when called up to FG. I think he is finally back to where he was before his injury. He should have cemented a spot until Bula is back at least. The problem for us now is how Toa recovers from the elbow and if Romey gets through SOO injury free,

It'll be interesting if Benji goes down the Gould path and says " He'll first have to earn his place in the first grade team" . . . and then slot him straight in before the ink dried on his contract.

He's a backup. Not a top 17 player.
He's a 200k player. Not a centre. A backup half maybe at best.
You can't pay big money to players outside your 17.

In the current cap. $400k is a fair whack below average salary

Back rowers need to be able to break tackles and the line. There is no room for plodders in the back row. If he's no 30 in your squad, and plays 1-2 games a season then ok. He's solid backup. If he's regularly getting minutes then he has to do his job

I think Tony is only 21. He really has developed his game nicely over the past twelve months (not so long ago some on this forum were suggesting we release him).
I think his defence is his strongest asset. Having watched him in lower grades, he doesn’t demand the ball but rarely gets driven back and normally finds his front. I think it’s very much worth persevering with him as I think he has a much higher ceiling than previously thought.
BTW I have seen him in person, he is not a small human.

Killed it . Makasini and May will heap real pressure on the 1st team in the coming weeks , as Makasini gets closer to his 18th birthday .

Charlie has been in our best 5 players every time he’s played NRL this season.
On form he’s slightly ahead of Skelton and Turuva as a winger.

I’d say it’s unlikely he gets back to hhs best even if he does return.
Herbie Farnworth also off contract at the end of 2026 will also be in high demand and I’d assume it will be the Perth Bears also leading the charge for his signature.
I’m expecting he will become a million dollar centre wherever he ends up.

Cap is $11.4 mill.
Divide that by 30 and it's $380k.
I'd expect atleast 5 to be on minimum salary though maybe more

I like Bula but when you put it that way I think Farnworth is worth a lot more than Bula. He would automatically make our side a complete different team. Don't mind that idea at all. There's also the Bula/Moses factor that's surely not going to go smoothly despite Bula being of good character I think Isaac just can't help himself when it comes to us especially with Benji at the helm.
