Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

This is reasonable. It's easy to watch a guy like Tony and just write him off because he isn’t dominating like Kikau but to even hold his own at this stage of his career is promising. Good on him.
He needs to have his half pass him the ball too. If his half is running he doesn't get as much ball - and his half was AD who did not use his him as much more than a decoy. I just pwatched a few minutes of the game and he was there ready to get the ball but not used or used as a foil for Toa. AD was using Pole back on the inside more a well. A lack of trust?

He most certainly coudl have gone hunting for the ball in the middle - but may not have been in the right position if he was needied if he had. Let's see what he brings outside of Luai or Latu.

it’s sukkar’s 8th NRL game and first (?) 80 minute performance. he was very solid, did his job & i feel better with him out there than seyfarth and birdy. sometimes i think expectations are too high for young players just starting out. obviously they’ve identified we need more strike on our edges with KPP coming.

I like the way Sukkar plays the game you can see the potential.

It will be interesting to see where his ceiling is. At the very least he has shown enough to suggest he will be a very handy back up option outside the top 17. At just 21, he still has a lot to gain strength and fitness wise. Its been suggested he lacks the tackle busting ability needed as an edge player, and that may be true to an extent. Certainly true when comparing to the elite backrowers. However, he has shown good line running ability and with the right ball players around him, I see him hitting holes and causing some issues for the opposition, especially as he gets fitter and stronger.

Surely we get something this week. Api or To'a extensions. Development or depth signings for next year.

I'm tipping:

- Api 2 years - Until end of 2028
- To'a 2 years - Until end of 2028
- Hope 2 years - NRL until end of 2027 @ $250K a year
- Murray 1 year - Development deal
- Tavana 1 year - Development deal & 1 year NRL for 2027
- Staines 1 year - NRL 2026
- Tui'itupou - 1 year NRL 2026
- Rahme 1 year - Development deal & 1 year NRL for 2027
- Mapalangi 1 year - NRL 2026

Taylan May in the future 2 years NRL

I would also like to see Doueihi for 1 NRL as a minimum but possibly unlikely

More drama equals more stories equals more views. It's all about the clicks and engagement metrics for the advertising dollar. We must be the club in Sydney noone really hates and all fans of all teams tune into just to see what's going on. If we wernt making the media money we wouldn't ever hear from them.
The claim often is that the media and the NRL are purposefully disrupting the club and keeping us down. The refs are targeting us with biased decisions so we’ll lose.
These claims are seperate from the clickbait stuff that we all identified years ago.

I think Chammas had his credibility questioned with the Douihei/Marshall comments and launched another article as in a tit-for-tat.
Unfortunately, Tigers (Benji) probably should take the high road and not give the stories oxygen as they journos have no ethics and will continually write both defamatory and fanciful stories to push their own agendas.
Spot on. The leeches pick on us because we're easy meat. They can get away with posting a mountain of excrement with just enough of a kernel of truth because usually something true and negative is easy to find with us. Once we rise above having to defend ourselves and simply dont respond, they wont choose us as their easy target.

If May doesn't drop the ball over the line against the Warriors and Galvin doesn't drop it against Souths we are in the 8
Honestly, I don’t think it works like that. I’m not a sports psychologist, but personal opinion is if we win those games, it changes the mindset of the players, where the following week they might not be as up for it opposed to coming off a loss. I also don’t buy into lamenting games we should have won, cos every team has those games. That’s the nature of sport. It’s not something you can hang your hat on.

They target us because we are anchored to the bottom of the ladder most years. You think a couple years in the top 8 would generate negative stories?

The N.R.L keeping us down is just a myth, the ref's imo are undoubtedly biased to teams higher on the ladder, but not exclusively against us. Titans and Cowboys couldnt get a call to save themselves. Once Payton gave the refs a serve it seemed to get a bit better for them. But I just think it's not an intentional thing, I also think perhaps the ref training and metrics or however they measure teams might get some teams under the microscope abit more than others for certain things. But all in all I just think it's a ladder position thing at any given time, it's human nature to make errors. Totally I guess an unconscious bias in a way imo.
The media, they'll report whatever sells, iv no doubt at times they will generate drama for the sake of drama for clicks, our club is pretty popular, it's just the way it is.

If Sandon Smith doesn't drop the ball at the line unchallenged on Sunday we lose to the Roosters.

He has plenty of size and scope for improvement, but so far at NRL level what has he done that’s any better than other players such as Matamua who have since been blacklisted ?
Matamua could play NRL next week and give us the same stats that we got from Sukkar last week.

i wish i could cop that but the titans do not get the same negativity that we do. tino has a clause, fifita has been missing for weeks and they are outright last with no jurno’s bothered to cover any of that. moses has his dirty mits on nine media and uses it manipulatively with the goal to disrupt the club & more importantly benji’s job

In addition , there is some , but comparatively little media criticism of Des compared with Benji … Des is a two time premiership winner with a handy team on paper that has won 4 games to the Tigers 6…. Apparently their best player wants out as well…but it’s a little paragraph in Buzz shhh part of the column as opposed to the lead story…
