Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Kini just re-signed for a 1.1-1.3 million a season.

I wouldn’t say Kini isn’t any further along in his development than Bula…

It’s going to be rare for any starting fullback to be on less than 1mil a season come 2028 with the new cap and quality of the position.
I respect your opinion, but we will have to agree to disagree, the impact and attacking threat I see from Kini and AJ Brimson when playing fullback far outweighs the impact we get from Bula.

100%!

But somehow basic supply-and-demand market principles completely elude the tuber speculators on here!

I would be offering Bula a long term deal around 800k-850k a season.

Give me a bourbon and dry 👍

Sure, but Kini has only played 24 NRL games. Sure he had a great season in 2024, but that is just one season. Daine Laurie looked like a great player after his rookie year but struggled once teams started game planning around him.

Kini is a great player, but there are also some valid questions marks around his defense and size.

I'm not saying he's better than Bula or Bula is better than him, i'm just highlighting where the market is currently at and Kini is the best comparison given age, experience, talent, potential etc.

Well said.
When you put together a good argument in a respectful manner, it’s very hard to argue with that 👍

Bulla's real market value based on actual performance is around 700k.
He hasn't delivered anywhere near a million dollars and furthermore hasn't shown any noticeable improvement in the deficiencies in his game - chiefly his involvement around the ruck and his passing game. Come November 1 if there isn't improvement I'd be letting him take up his 800k.
I'm not sure he will ever be a fullback with a well rounded modern game and be a link man and be able to create 3 on 2...

Kini at 1.2mill is not what the market dictates!

I hope so with AD. He's shown he's still got lots to offer. You need to retain grown men like him while you develop the younger guys.
