OFFICIAL Adam Doueihi #227

When Douehi plays well, it sometimes pisses me off afterwards.

This guy has had so many opportunities and I know he's had injuries but he cannot play 3 or 4 good games ina row.

I know people love to hate on Luai but he's always back by tackle 1 to get to dummy half on both L or R sides of the field to create an extra man. If he isn't kicking, he's always up in the chasing line. You barely see him not get to marker.

These things are not hard to do and something Douehi can do but he does it very rarely.

But when he comes to "showing off", trying to pull a rabbit ouf out of the hat moments, he switches on and gets involved in everything.

He's clearly talented but we need people who show consistency and reliability. Douehi should be back behind the ball by tackle 1 so that the dummy half has 2-3 options. Usually, Luai has only one option and the winger gets jammed.

196cm and 98kg's.
He's big enough.
He'd be playing a different role to what Twal currently does, so we'd need a couple of second rowers that pull their weight, not the invisible man and his 5 runs for sweet F.A metres.
Yeah maybe.

He just doesn’t seem to have that aggression or willingness to get whacked or whack like those smaller Bulldogs forwards.

If he gets some mongrel about him, it could work very well.

Contract season

Strangest thing,

For the most part of the year, I would happily claim Doueihis' defence had improved out of site
- But thought he was ball hogging and not doing much with the ball.
The last few weeks, He's turned that on it's ear, His defence has been back to how it used to be - And he's doing more with the ball.

I like AD,
But he's been tried and tested - And now his spot is about to be taken out from under him.
Unless he want's to go to a Bench Utility / Forward, He needs to move on.

Yessir

You know I'm a fan.
Time to bite the bullet and allow him to move on.
Get busy, Isaac.

We've got some issues we definitely need to improve, roster wise. ADs asking price for one year or whatever can be better spent elsewhere.

Lock, forward depth, back up half, etc.

So our players on big money are void of any blame as to why we cannot win a game when they are playing ?
It’s always Doueihi’s fault, Seyfarth’s fault, Twal’s fault ???
They are t the ones on big money taking up most of our salary cap and supposed to be doing special things to earn their money and win us games.

Is that you saying that,

Or attempting to make out like that's what's I said?
If it is, Go back and read what I said again.

But now you mention it,
Doueihi is probably the only one not getting overpaid in the Players you mentioned.

It’s a general comment that the players on smaller contracts who are paid to play 30-40mins and just hold their own while the bigger paid players are having a rest are not the reason why we struggle to win a game.
Every NRL club has these type of players in their top 17 and it doesn’t stop them from winning plenty of games as their highly paid players are the ones who influence the game in their favour.
Our higher paid players, aside from Terrell May are doing very little tn influence the game in our favour.

While what you say is true I don't think the issue is lack of effort it is about lack of thinking. What has been apparent for some time, and becomming more evident is that we have plenty of skill but not enough brains. We need one footballing brain that can assess what is happeing in real time and react appopriately.

Identify where the oppositon is gaining the ascendency, identify the critcal vulnerability of that strength and attack it.

We don't attack vulnerabilities - we seem to be fixated on doing what we do well - that is great until what we do well is being nullified - then you need to react appropriately.

Playing what you see is not a winnign strategy it is players taking opportinites that present themselves - palying in the moment. It is all well and good when you are going forward and have ascendency. When you don't you need make the oppostion change what they are doing - and that doesn't happen by trying to execute your won game plan. It happens when you force them to change theirs so you can get back to pitting your strengths agaisnt their weaknessess.

We have plenty of ability - we are short in a few key aspects but we can recruit that in for the most part. Where is the footballing brain of the outfit? The one that can adapt on the run - that can lead in adversity? Develop that player over the off season and you have a winning team. You no longer lose close games, you no longer persist trying a failing course of action because we become a team that can think - not just execute.

Yeah they do - The bit you're missing is they're paid accordingly.
A bloke like Luke Garner, Is on less at the Panthers than Seyfarth and Twal are at the Tigers.

And he even has somewhat of a highlights reel.

Luke Garner would be very handy on one of our edges right now with his extra speed, but that’s another story.
Seyfarth himself has a decent highlights reel just in recent weeks, but as I say he’s too slow to be a genuine strike option on an edge and hence the reason he’s better used as a toiler in the middle off the bench,
We could have Fisher-Harris and Leota up front and it still wouldn’t make much difference if we continue with so many one out hit ups and have next to no strike on our edges or out wide.

Apart from weeks 2-9 when we did have some strike out wide

What’s changed apart from To’a now playing a long way from his best ?
Does this not happen with To’scevert season, gives us a sneak peek at what he can do, then plays injured and does nothing for the rest of the season ?
A pattern is forming and I can’t see how it’s beneficial to us long term.

So one guy is the reason ? I keep saying it’s the game plan that’s changed … something happened after the 64-0 drubbing

Nothing against Douehi but he is not the answer to any of our problems beyond 2025 and only a stopgap for this year.I honestly wish him well but he has far too many flaws in his game to be a first grade footballer with us no matter what contract he is on.
