Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Richo is doing his best to prop up Benji, but as CEO he is technically answerable to the board.

No big contract pay out issues because his wages are being paid by a big sponsor and not the club.

If the board decide to move against Benji, Richo doesn’t have to accept responsibility, but he will lose some face because he’s been backing Benji to the hilt.
Another thing a sucessfull club would never do, allow a sponsor to pay the coach. Reason being any club with more than 2 braincells would understand your then beholden to the sponsor. If the sponsor isn't happy and they pull their support and you don't have the cash your unstable again looking for a new coach. Never did I ever think a sponsor would be supplying a coach, I'm sorry that's just stupid. If this info is accurate.

Coaching is very likely part of the problem as I thought he was adding decent impact early in the season.
You don’t just lose all ability within 3 - 4 months.
Vicious I get the sense that as soon as Benji hears something he doesn't like or if you disagree with him he gets his back up and your out. Once he determines your out, your out. For Benji to succeed he needs to change as much as the players, not in terms of the standards he wants but in his approach in dealing with them on a personal level. Plenty of people who know him have said he's a great guy, once he trusts you it's to the death, but if you argue with him and lose his trust its gone for good. Would make it difficult in trying to manage people and be managed by.

No doubt his care factor is very low, but I would expect a coach at NRL level to take it personal and go the extra mile to get these types of players motivated.
I thought he would have used the Warriors game to challenge him and give him a go to prove himself against a massive pack, but he left him out. I would have told him if you still want to be an N.R.L player this is the game I need you to show it to me.

I don’t know, they won’t return my email.

I’m going to run the test with another club and post the results up.

if they are slack too, we know it’s industry practice. So it’s less grumpiness at our ugly lot.
I put an enquiry through the website and had Skando contact me directly. He went through the different packages and followed up with me to arrange a face to face chat. Just my experience.

That’s exactly how it seems and I’ve received some intel that also suggests this.
I agree with you 💯 it’s a personality trait he needs to change and be much more open to forgiving and working with players if he wants to become a successful coach,

The funny thing about this post that once again sought to re-ignite hatred of the Magpies and revive the Balmain v Magpies debate unprovoked, is that if you read Magpies supporter group posts on other social media platforms they are convinced of exactly the opposite, that HBG wants to revive Balmain.
The simple reason for that is that this poster is writing from a polarised Balmain point of view, just like the Magpies supporter groups.

Even more interesting is that the post was liked by one of the podcasters who protest their impartiality, once again representing his polarised view of the world by liking a divisive , unnecessary post.
Thanks for your warped view of my post.
I wasn’t trying to ignite any hatred between Balmain and Wests but just stating a point.
HBG chairman, good old Denny Burgess, has been quoted as saying he wants to bring the Magpies back to the NRL.
By the way, I am also a member of Magpies social sites and I can tell you the vast majority HATE the Balmain side of the venture and want them gone so the Magpies can stand alone (wouldn't be surprised if you’re one of them).
Even after 25 years they feel aggrieved they were punted and their memories are so frail they can’t recall being saved by the Balmain offer to merge.
Remember neither club had much loot at the time.
All the talk is that now they do have the money they should punt WestsTigers and bring back the Magpie.
Go ahead and tell me it isn’t true.

Without realising it you pretty much agreed with and validated everything I said.
Thanks for that.

We got most of the recruits Benji wanted too.

He’s had awhile to get those.

JL isn’t the player he was at the Panthers either. Somethings gone wrong there.

We had a mid season review and things have got worse. Most of the players are still available, yet few are playing at optimum, let alone the whole side.

I’d love to see Benji turn the corner, but it seems unlikely.
What’s gone wrong is the players he now has around him compared to the players he had around him at Penrith. Chalk and cheese when it comes to playing as a team. We can’t expect one or two players from a good system to turn the team around when the rest of the team is still quite average and they’re not being coached well enough to play together as a team.

Well said the fickle reaction of footy fans purely driven by emotion, well we all suffer from it to some degree by evidence on the forum lol.
Are we all so fragile that we are living our lives vicariously through people that we will generally have little to zero personal connection with during our lives. Always intrigues by how much emotional angst gets spilt on the outcome of a selection/non-selection or the result of game.

In the case of footy fans, it appears so driven by the hope to see them rise to the top.

At the local Coles I shop at on a Sunday night one of the girls who works there is a devout Storm supporter funnily enough she is always happy, never known how it feels to be at the wrong end of the table.

Seems you have an unfortunate lack of comprehension.
My ‘unprovoked attack’ on HBG was based on a question in regards to their desire to properly fund a NRL team.
With biased senior management and a lack of money being directed at the WestsTigers it certainly would make most thinking people question just why this is the case.
The fact you fail to realise it is, unfortunately, nothing I help you with.
You can’t seem to accept simple facts.
