The offer from us is already out. His field goal last week probably added 80k + to his contract.

There will be a Vacuum for experienced halves and utilities when the Bears rejoin the comp. He should sign his one year deal with us and then earn himself a nice deal beyond 2026 to see out the prime years of his career.

You cannot say that Tim Sheens's footy was unstructured. That's absolutely untrue. It was insanely academic and technical stuff. It just meant that you had license to take risks where other teams wouldn't (if you see your chance) and not just depend on a set structure to get you around the pitch.

As of today, and attack 'coaching' ...we're just not scoring enough points. We are starting to resemble how we looked with Brooksy playing again. We can't expect to win games via lateral play from our halves and spine alone. We need more moments like Taylan's first try last week where it's just a simple matter of our outside backs being stronger and tougher than our opponents are. What we've have had before then has just been too easy to stop. Other teams aren't dumb either, we've been sussed out the more the year has gone on too.

Also our halves get slim pickings in comparison to what other teams get. Surely we have the most timid and least threatening Centres in this comp, by far. When has Toa or Douehi really broken the line as Centres and made it easy for our halves to finish things off. Toa has had some good finishes, but not much in the way of big line breaks or tackle busts. I can't even remember the last time we had a fantastic linebreak and footrace from our outside backs that lead to a try. It happens to us 3 of 4 times a half...
 
Sounds to me like he'll be at Tigers. All these competing offers do is strengthen your bargaining position. In turn it bends your cap a little out of shape and helps rivals who are trying to resign their own players eg. gives us 50k less to offer to a younger player like Harrison Hasset

He just needs to stop mentioning IM, it’s probably already cost him upwards of $50k? LOL
Balancing the cap is a risky business when you have to pay someone upfront on what he will do during future seasons, while keeping an eye on the proportion given to each player commensurate with their value to team performance.
When Twaly wanted to test the market it was stated he was on $450k, he had no offers and accepted $350k according to media sources.
I still believe Doueihi’s value is closer to $450k. That’s provided he is happy playing 13. He did a lot of defensive work in the Titans game and can improve on that imo.
 
We are already getting "great" value for money out of him for 2025, slip him another 100k this year "bonus" for a job well done. Surely, that would put us in the box seat for 26then sign him for 350/400k for 2026 season "club option 2027" where his potential value is, as a starting 13..

I didn’t say that about Sheens.

But yah, can’t remember the last time our centres, or really anyone for that matter, make a clean line break that we were able to make anything out of.

People are way too critical - I’ve not been his biggest fan but his workload was fine for his 1st game at lock and for someone who hasn’t had an offseason as a forward.

Recently re-signed or extended local juniors - Phoenix Godinet, Christian Taupau-Moors, Jared Haywood, Heamasi Makasini, Alex Seyfarth, Fonua Pole, Tony Sukkar.

Mate if you think that both Hunt and Bird combined are on close to $1m you are kidding yourself. Hunt was signed as a replacement middle for Stefano, he was heralded as the middle that we needed and his management milked the club for all it was worth as there aren't many middles available. You think they both came over on the cheap, we have overpaid for every signing the last decade.

In regards to Juniors you have mentioned the ones that have been resigned.

We have lost a heap of juniors over the last year or so. One in particular recently is Jordan Bunt, he wasn't even offered a deal by the Tigers because of dud signings in our top 30 and there being no room. He ends up signing with the Canberra Raiders whose recruitment has been on-point the last few years. We also lost Aiden Gow to the Newcastle Knights this year he was the leading try scorer in the SG Ball comp with 21 tries in 11 games, born and bred junior that has played with Leichhardt Wanderers since he was 4 years old. The list is mind blowing of juniors we have lost in the last couple of years let alone the last decade.

There was a reason why Royce Hunt only average less than 20 minutes at the Sharks and wasn't offered a contract renewal. He and Bird have had serious injuries over the last couple of years and they have been dud signings.

I only said they're not on close to a million.

They're both woeful. Bird has been escaping criticism for his terrible off the ball efforts and lack of 1%ers.

Im arguing for them. At all. Don't do that.
