Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Fair enough …

I’d actually prefer Bud to be honest, although not really a great option either way..

Perhaps my memory is wrong,… actually thought Madden might have gave the club a bit of a bagging the first time he left… not that he was wrong mind you, but ….
Ethan Sanders would be a good shout, but I reckon he wants to start each week

It’s hard to work out why Jock would consider returning to Wests Tigers as our depth halve, rather than take up an offer as a regular starting halve in the UK Super League ?
We just have to try and get the same deals on the table for Bud Sullivan, Royce Hunt and Jack Bird.
You would think on reputation alone, there could be a UK Super League club buying out the full contract value of Hunt and Bird.
Bud probably wouldn’t get an offer of even close to the rumoured 700k we are paying, but you would assume one of the UK Super League clubs might offer up around 350k which would be much better for us than the 150k which is seemingly all that the Rabbitohs are willing to pay.
It’s still mind blowing to think we offered Bud a 700k per season contract for 4 years while he was playing NSW Cup at the Dragons, surely it can’t be true that we are paying him that much ?

I would just keep Bud …rather then pay more to get rid of him and sign Madden who wasn’t that great the first time … it’s the reserve grade half back FFS ..

If you can’t move on Bird and Hunt for full freight then you may as well keep them … they are not as hopeless as others to pass through here ..

When was the last time he was in the clear and didn't get run down? And I'm not talking about from 10m out

You're absolutely dead right.

I can't remember the last time a Centre cracked things open for us and made it easy for our halves to finish things off. It's like our engine is missing 2 cylinders.

Everyone is being really forensic with what our halves contribute.... we were pretty flat against the Titans and didn't get over the advantage line much, yet Latu and Luai still delivered two double decoy tries finished off nicely by Skelton. We can't win games off the back of those plays alone.

We get that extra bit of threat, just enough, even if its overs to get it, it would change a lot of games for us. I can totally understand the frustration.

550k is what I’ve heard…and someone here whinged that I was overs at that price the last time I said it ..he’ll love you 😂
550k is a little bit more believable, but still insane for a NSW Cup halfback.
I actually wanted us to sign him, but I would have through the deal would have been 250-300k tops and only for 2 maybe 3 years to see how it works out, not 4 years on ridiculous money.
Anyway if it is 550k I’d say no to the Rabbitohs if they are only willing to chip in 150k, I’d be telling them chip in 300k, maybe 250k take it or send him back.

You talk about spending money properly, yet you want to pay a centre 1.1 million a season. You'd send the club right back down to last, but we'd have the best centre in the game.
He's a freak Wt. I'd pay him 1.1. He isn't your usual centre he goes looking for the ball much more than any other centre in the game including Crichton. He also plays a bigger role in most of there games than any other player atm.
I made it clear what I'd give to get a player like Herbie. .

I actually said we should make a play for Jock Madden as backup half a few weeks ago, experience, game management & goal kicking.

JOCK’S EYE OF THE TIGER

Jock Madden is on the verge of quitting the Broncos with three clubs, including Wests Tigers, eyeing off the Brisbane playmaker.

Sport Confidential can reveal Madden is considering a return to the Tigers club with whom he made his NRL debut in 2021 before his move to the Broncos two years ago.

Madden is contracted to the Broncos until the end of 2026 but is resigned to leaving Brisbane after the club recently extended skipper Adam Reynolds for a further 12 months.

The 25-year-old was being groomed to succeed Reynolds and had played 15 games for the club over the past two years when the Broncos skipper was unavailable through injury.

But under new coach Michael Maguire, Madden has yet to play NRL this season and appears to have fallen well down the pecking order behind Reynolds, Ezra Mam, Ben Hunt, Billy Walters and teenager Coby Black.

Hull FC coach John Cartwright is keen on Madden given his ties to the playmaker as a former assistant coach at the Broncos to Kevin Walters.

But Hull FC face competition from Australia with the Tigers and a second NRL club having contacted his management to inquire about the possibility of Madden leaving the Broncos at season’s end.

The Broncos are battling a salary-cap crunch and would save around $350,000 by releasing Madden, who played 17 games for the Tigers, from the final season of his deal.
lol think this is BS, just dangling WT out there to create leverage for bargaining w Super League.

the computer wizards that watch a lot of grades would have a few names up their sleeves of lower grade goal kickers that are worthy of an upgrade for a position we need . Joels BWG Poopy, just to name a few.???
