Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Tom I thought you were smarter than this.
Read the play, have a look around the grounds, there are no top class 13’s or enforcer style middle forwards becoming available anytime soon.
When something is not available you can’t buy it,
The only option to at least try and solve these very noticeable holes in our team line up is to improvise and try and manufacture the type of players we need.

We don’t need to sign Isaiah Yeo…

I’m looking for someone better than Twal - that’s not a Mt Everest level bar…

Did you think this time last year May would be joining us ? Contracts mean nothing

looks like we run in mud , no leg drive ,no will to leg drive ..Hope Bunji gives them a right royal revving to finish of the year , like yesterday
Would Benji scare you if he raised his voice ?
Great player, but he would struggle to motivate a pig to get dirty.

I know but that’s easier said than done unless we look outside the square.
The options that look ok such as Adam Elliott come with high risk due to being constantly injured,
We need another player that is constantly injured like a hole in the head.

Hey Weststigers out of curiosity. If Madden was at the club this week who do u think our 7 would be this week.
My concern is with Benjis chopping and changing like moving Latu to 13 then back to 7 this week I' thinks he will play a lot of fg next year and I don't think he's a quality fg player. I hope I'm wrong .
I think he'll stick with Latu.

Did you think this time last year May would be joining us, being under contract at the Roosters until 2028?

Your strategy of taking a punt by moving internal unproven players at the position is exactly what we don’t need

There seems to be talk that Makasini will get game time... So how's that fixing the issue if we are bringing fresh 18 year olds in way too young?
Different cat more physically developed than Inglis was and he started at 18. Outside backs always start young or good enough.

Haven’t seen the $$$ …hope it was reasonable …

Happy with the signing ,,he has a long way to go though 👍
Very good signing.
There is no guarantees with young players as we well know, but a standout man of the match performance in an u/19’s SOO is generally a very good sign and follows the lead of others such as Ethan Strange a couple of years earlier.

do you have any proof of that or is it just an opinion.
Sure buddy. Right here in page 19 from Holman Barnes latest annual report. Just under 1.8 million in grants to Wests Tigers.

By comparison, the Bulldogs chip in about 7 million.

The last commercial report, which is sponsorship and other club generated revenue was 13.4 million. Last in the comp.

We are critically underfunded - last in the comp in fact - and it stands to reason that having the least revenue and the lowest, if not one of the lowest, club grants, we would spend the least on support staff.

Why do you think they invest so little?

But he was a 100% right about not contesting any kicks we put up , everybody knows they can be 50/50 so well worth trying
Yeah, it’s an effort area part of the game. Like kick chase in general and ruck speed. We’re still not a fully connected footy side compared to the top sides. Too many guys just happy to be in FG.

I'll make my last comment to you on this matter, polite. In the post that B Boy responded to I was talking about recruitment. I cannot believe that we are slow to identify and move on recruitment needs because of funding. Equally I don't believe players don't come here because we're underfunded by HBG. We were told players didn't come because we didn't have a C of E. Now we do and we still have recruitment issues. We were told that we needed a majority-independent Board to fix our issues. We've had one for a couple of months and nothing has changed or shows promise of change.
The thing about funding which you and I don't know is whether we have enough funding to do the job. I would disregard newspaper stories on the topic because I don't believe in the integrity of very many journalists. The HBG grant is not the only source of funding for WT. We have money from quite a number of sponsorships. I have no clue whether we have enough money but neither does anyone else and, from my business experience, more money doesn't necessarily produce better outcomes.
I can honestly say I have not heard anyone say a lack of money was a big issue for us. You would have thought Justin P or Lee H might have said something on their departure if funding was a big issue.
In closing and, perhaps by way of an olive branch to you, I should say that anyone who has issues with B Boy is OK by me,
Maybe that's where we disagree.

I think our ability to recruit has changed significantly. One year we buy Brandon Wakeham or Aiden Sezer. The next year we land Luai. We signed Klemmer...next thing we have Terrell May. It's chalk and cheese.

I also think money matters and allows you to invest in the right areas.

We are dead last in revenue and club grants in the NRL. It's not my opinion. It's out there in black and white. Perhaps being chronically underfunded for years on end eventually takes It's toll.
