Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Khan-Pereira with all his speed and lateral movement has a tackle efficiency of 66%. That is dog shit. He would maybe get there but probably miss the tackle.

It's why he's in reserve grade.

Turuva ain't slow btw.

Secondly, yardage was our biggest problem. You see how much we lose when Staines comes in. You're looking at moments in a highlights reel. The game goes for 80 minutes and the dirty work needs to be done too. The top teams don't have Khan-Pereiras in there.

It's not like we are getting Skelton into the clear and he's being run down. That I could understand. We wouldn't be able to give him any space to make use of his speed anyway. It's not the problem that needs fixing.

They tried this experiment in schoolboy rugby for many years. Just recruit athletes. Super fast. Didn't work. They don't have the football skills or the ticker.
I have been crying out for some speed and Khan has plenty but you do make some valid points. It's not like we're setting up wingers in the clear to often and the yardage game is vital especially with our pack. We'll that's how you change someone's mind. I do think we should use our cash on the engine room

I’ll make an excuse for Skelton last week ..he scored a couple of tries against the Titans playing outside Taylan, but Benji decided to break that combination up… Skelton played outside Toa who has become the worst defender in the team of late …and the result was that side being heavily targeted
Nah … how do you excuse the handling errors, mobility of a tug boat. Not a big Skelton fan , hope he can he good days and bad days far apart. Like real far .

Skelton tackle efficiency is 59%. Your right 66% is dogshit , what is 59%?

So are you saying the public took out loans and credit cards in their own name 20 years ago to pay off the public debt?

It's widely known the Howard government sold public assets to achieve the debt payoff and be in the black. This is no miraculous feat of financial management. This is what your average punter has to do if your debt is too high. Ultimately, you are forced to sell your assets to get back to where you need to be.

The point is. When you are back in the black. You made the sacrifice already. Stay there! Don't repeat the same mistake again!

Both governments trashed a terrific opportunity for the Australian people.
So, lets get the maths right:
You take an asset, like Telstra. An Asset that makes money.
Sell it, undervalued.
You retire debt, but you also LOOSE Income.

That Asset making Profit (Telstra, in this case 1.8 Billion dollars this year.)
That Debt, costing 0.6 Billion to service... (30 Billion * 2%)

Your basically 1.2 Billion in the red from that transaction.

Thats fine but my point is we are so far behind on all other revenue streams compared to most teams - our membership revenue is a disgrace compared to all teams, sponsorship well below most, game day from corporates is woeful. These are all revenue areas that Wests Tigers control - not HBG
I got your point but if we are showing a profit this year Richo is starting to turn it around - but probably by lean staffing as we clearly haven't got more through the doors through our performances. I think what you are saying highlights what Richo is trying to get after more corporate $ to helof fund the footy.

What the figues do show is that it probably takes around $5M to run a professionally run NRL team - about what other leagues club funded sides are spending. Warriors, Many and Cronulla spend significantly more of a much smaller budget (although they don't have the saem remit as HBG). Having said that HBG are only spending $4M on all of their grants across the board on all the sports - including basketball, hockey etc (5%).

HBG have 2 major objectives - to provide entertainment for their members and to support Rugby League in the Western Suburbs. 95% to that goes to the revenue generating clubs and those with their noses in the trough and less than 5% (in fact about 2.5%) to support the NRL team, Wests and Balmain JRL. I think that the figures clearly show that HBG are underinvesting in one of the organisations key objectives.

If we were continually in the top 8 there would be nothing to worry about; but we aren't. It wouldn't be too hard to figure out what the winning forumla is (support wise) and match it. It is not like there isn't enough cash to go around.

It could well be that they are sick of wasting money on and organisation that was run by clowns - clowns they appointed as a board and who operating under their guidance. One year removed and Richo has the organisation making a small profit. Imagine how much better we could be if we were funded. $ from West Tigers will only come if we can improve on the field, get a home ground that is profitable and provides quality services to its members.

They may be able to run some pokies, but appear to have NFI when it comes to meeting their other consitiutional objective. The independent board will probably be the most important thing that has happened since the JV started.

Yes. But if your marketing or sponsorship department is running on fumes because you can't afford the wages, how do you address it? The owners need to pump up their contribution a bit.
just for argument sake, do the HBG or WSDRL books show money going towards Balmains bye in, in the last few financial reports

How much of an income would kents pathetic pod earn him?
I dont listen to it

Can’t really answer that to be honest ..seems Kent’s only gig these days , and he has an offsider with him…I assume getting a sling as well…so must be some money in it ..

Ive seen it a number of times…he has reigned in the arrogance from the 360 days, but still likes going after the Tigers as most of them do …

Backdoor Benny is an absolute joke …how he is afforded a regular platform to continuously attack the club is beyond my understanding…he was bagging the new board over decisions made during the Lee/ Pascoe era
