Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

1m+ for 2- 3 years for a middle while you are in a premiership window and he could make the difference between top 8 and serious contender is smart . 1m+ for a middle for 5 years in almost any scenario will end in tears.
I would love to have Tino, however not at $1m+ for 5 years, I would rather pay $1.5m for 2 years. If you are a contender and the club is moving forward after 2 years he would probably extend anyway. This all or nothing 5+ year contract stuff is dangerous. It invariably includes clauses that favour the player as well.
He will not sign for 3 years . It’s fairyland stuff . He’s got a 7 year 1.5 mil offer from the dragons and bears on the table . That’s the range of years and money you have to play in now .
They will be real dark years in 31/32 for whichever club pays that . He can’t stay on the field now at 26 yo. It will be Matt Ballin level bench riding in those years for whichever team.
I’d much rather get a Hamlin uele or a Talakai and move him into the middle for a fraction of the cost , without having this albatross around your neck , that might bare fruit in 26,27,28 , but will block pathways for the juniors and severely hamstring your capabilities in the salary cap , even if it goes to the expected 15 mil by 2030, I’ve seen projected . 1.5kil then for a prop who’s the best in the world and killing it … muah chefs kiss . For a guy who’s as likely to be helping the assistant coach with the defensive strategies in the box as he is to be playing on the field … yuck . We litterally have just come out of this with Reynolds and Packer , and McQueen , and some of you guys are desperate to get right back into that pit of despair . I dunno … I tend to prefer to learn from mistakes…

Guys like Sione Fainu are on a fraction of the money, yet allow us room in our cap to breath.

Paying that sort of cash would severely limit squad depth and frankly for that sort of cash you want a match winner....I mean think about it...it's more money than Nathan Cleary. It doesn't make a whole lotta sense.

Gus on his podcast talking about it’s ridiculous to pay a middle $1.5m… funny he said the same thing about our offer to galvin before he ended up signing him. he wants Tino and is trying to drive his price down

More use 3rd party deals, house/appartment and length of deal to drive it down officially on the books.

Gus entering the battle to sign him drives the price up by default.

Here are his stats. You tell me if he's worth 1.2 - 1.5 million based on output.

143m a game. 90% tackle efficiency. 14 hitups.

Sorry, but you can get what he offers for half the price.

You can say he's intimidating, but it hasn't helped the Gold Coast win more games. He just does the bumper bars thing and the commentators cream themsleves. Overrated and will be overpaid.
If Tino was to take a haircut on his next contract you might consider signing him that would be a sign that he has the hunger still left in his belly to lead his next team's pack to push for success.

But if it's money he's chasing forget it you only have to look at his existing club example in Fifita when he landed the big bucks, form went to shit and possible jealousy sets in amongst team mates making team harmony take a nosedive.

I’m ok with the Roberts signing , changing our reserves is good and hopefully strengthens them and our back up , I would love to know who is going from our mob
Staines - Feledy -?Bud - Need another 3 min ( Tumeth , Naden ? , ?

warriors won’t be offering bunty afoa a contract for next year, might be a good pick up
Yeah I think big Bunty could be useful amazingly only 30 next year feels like he's been around forever.
A big prop that over past seasons has dented us up the middle Benji needs to get those man management skills to work and convince him to come across.
