Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

What’s happened to Lobb, Mapapalangii and IIzaac Tuituopo ?

We aren’t going to have the whole NSW Cup side in the Top 30 …
The 3 you have mentioned are surely headed for the exit door.
Lobb has shown some improvement this season, but you would think his position is essentially being taken be Tino Tavana.

Are they ? Haven’t heard they are leaving…

How many Top 30 spots are left ?

Do you want another couple of middles?

Absolutely agree we are 1 or 2 backs short for a top 30 especially taking into account that none of our development players are outside backs and those 2 are 18 and 19.

We do have Mapapalangi and Tuitupo from cup who may win a spot as backup if we don't sign anyone
We need to aim higher than those 2 in my opinion.
Players such as Jonathan Sua, Jake Tago, Aaron Schoupp are far superior and our internal players such as Max Taotua and Tino Tavana have much better potential.

8. Terrell May / Kit Laulilli
9. Api Korisau / Tristan Hope
10. Sione Fainu / Tony Sukkar
11. Kai Pearce-Paul / Mavrik Geyer
12. Samuela Fainu / Sol Saukuru
13. Alex Twal / Jack Bird

14. Latu Fainu
15. Alex Seyfarth
16. Fonua Pole
17. Royce Hunt

** This shows we realistically have zero top 30 forwards positions available unless we offload someone.
** It also shows we currently have a noticeable lack of depth for genuine quality big bodied middles.
** It shows we currently have at least one too many edge back rowers.
** Keep in mind we also have Ethan Roberts, Phoenix Godinet, Christian Taupau-Moors and Lachlan Broederlow on development deals.

Yep…some duds there…

However, Sukkar is not a prop… Also …Would you want Bird playing 13 if Twal is injured ? You want Seyfarth and even Hunt in the Top 17?

Ultimately we want to make the 8 right? Not just worrying about NSW Cup wingers ?

Preferably no and that’s the imbalance we still have within our top 30.
Why would we sign Mavrik Geyer to take a top 30 position when we already have Sukkar and Saukuru outside of what will likely be our top 17 when injury free ?
Mavrik Geyer seems to be a decent player, but he’s not a middle that we really need.

Here is my Starting forwards and bench …Round 1

8.Terrel
9 Api
10 To be signed
11 Sione
12 Sam
13 Twal

14 Latu
15 KPP
16 Pole
17 Hunt ( through gritted teeth and hoping he is fit ) …

Just watched Tago on Terrells podcast.
They're close. Seems like a perfect fit.

He can take Naden's spot.
I doubt it has been orchestrated, but the tigers tapping into the talent pool of the panthers has been a stroke of genius... And now there's these little clicks forming, I think it only increases our chances of signing good players... Someone like a Tago, who's a fringe player, but happy to be part of something with the boys, but has come through a good system...

You could argue that Mav has a better trajectory than those two youve mentioned. Some grade under the belt, was strong last year. Sukkar not showing alot IMO.

IF bird gets moved on then can they throw some shine at Crosby, Moale, Ale possibly? Big bodied middles.

Possibly, but the point is we now have a roster imbalance while we have Sanuela Fainu, KPP, Mavrik Geyer, Tony Sukkar and Solomone Saukuru all as specialist edge back rowers in our top 30 and Ethan Roberts and Phoenix Godinet as specialist edge back rowers on our development list.
We now have too many edge back rowers and not enough middles, so you would assume there is some type of playing roster movement on the horizon.

he’s an 80 min backrower. would’ve thought itd be better to have sione in the middle rotation

I’m impressed with how Sione is going at edge …they have changed their game plan the last couple of weeks and played a bit wider…he has played a part in that and I have liked the results .. I want that to continue and KPP can spend some time finding his way into the starting side …
