The Finals

Well we have the Bulldogs, Storm and Warriors limping into the finals series. Two of them are in a position to get a second bite, but I’m predicting none of those three will be a real threat in the long run.

On the other hand, we have the Raiders, Roosters, Broncos and Sharks going in with guns blazing! Any of those teams could take it out, particularly Canberra as they’ve been by far the most consistent team all year.

Then you have Penrith, quietly going about their business, not setting the world on fire, but making it in with some solid performances at the back end of the season. Not in the position they would like to be I’m sure, but there all the same.

So who’s gonna win it? My tip is Penrith, the quiet team going about their business, to win a 5th straight premiership and break the long standing record of no team outside of the top 4 ever winning the comp.

Just the opinion of an average uninformed punter of course, but that’s the way I see it. What are your predictions?

It's been so hard to pick this year. Canberra have been dominant but they haven't been blowing teams off the park. I think the winner is a 4 way race between Raiders, Broncos, Penrith and Roosters.

I wouldn’t write off the Storm.
Any team with Grant, Munster, Papenhuyzen, Coates etc - coached by Bellamy - is still well in it. Pezet with a huge opportunity to turn his potential into cold hard reality.

I'd love to see The RAIDERS in and win as they remind me of the Western Suburbs MAGPIE Fibro battlers, but I have got a feeling they won't make it.
So, my pick is Roosters V Brisbane with hopefully a Roosters Win.

Not many teams have another gear that can win a game from nothing only Raiders, Roosters, Broncos and Panthers do.

Broncos & Roosters defensively only have to get things right for a few games and could be very dangerous.

Raiders and Panthers defensively should be fine for the finals they look the more complete sides atm.

Storm are busted will try hard but don’t see how they can win

Bulldogs, Sharks and Warriors just don’t have another gear. Defensively are sound but just lack the points punch needed to match it with the others week in week out at a high standard.

Canberra will struggle to beat the Broncos off the bye/resting players when they have had the bye they are really slow the following week I expected the Broncos will come out of the gates hard and Canberra will struggle to catch up in the second half maybe a 32/28 score Line to the Broncos

Wouldn't mindRaiders winning (hard to say given 89 - yes I hold a grudge 🙂 )
Couldn't stand Rooters or even worse Drizzle winning. A special hex on the Dogs and the Broncos just because they're Brisbane. Other than that, couldn't give a flying Nellie Furtado.

Feels like the weakest finals series in years. Not often two sides in the top 4 go into finals already cooked. It’s a bit harsh on the Roosters and Sharks who are both in good form that one of them will be gone next week, yet either the Dogs or Storm will limp around for another week. They’re both gone I think, as are the Wahs. It’s the Raiders, Panthers or the Broncos, who have hit form at the right time of year. It’s going to be very interesting to see how the Panthers go and if they can get themselves up again. You can never count them out.
