Buzz hates Madge’s guts as he told him off.

Yes, I like Buzz but he does have a bad habit of carrying a vendetta.
Madge is obviously enjoying coaching Broncos, with his ex Storm mate as CEO. A massive change from the hostile environment at Tigers.
The resilience of the Broncos this season compared to last is what got them the title. Maguire instilled that - backed some players that were not considered talented enough and dropped players with talent but lacked the resolve he was looking for.
They have always had the onfield talent - but you are kidding yourself if you dont think that they lacked the hard work needed to get the result - Maguire is exactly what they needed.

100% correct. Buzz & Tallis hate him so much they keep trying to start this narrative that Kevvie Walters deserves as much credit 🤣🤣🤣. Madge hasn’t changed his ways - it’s just the players started believing his ways when they were fit enough to have 5 12+ point come back wins late in the season

I'm gonna come out strongly and disagree with almost everyone here.
Yes Broncos have Carrigan, Haas, Walsh etc but that's not the reason where they got to where they are.
The main reason imo is $$.
If Madge thought Carrigan needed to become a better leader, he'd have gone to the Broncos board and said here's a leadership coach that costs $200k a year, let's hire him to better our leaders. If he went with the same proposal to WT board, he'd be laughed out the place.
So much work is done on continuing education of coaches and players, it's insane. Many clubs spends hundreds of thousands if not over a million dollars more in educating coaches, players, psychs and performance staff that we simply don't have the money to spend.
The notion that Madge can coach elite players but no average players is BS too. They had players like Isaako, Neame, CNK, Papalii etc who I wouldn't class elite. Current broncos had guys like Hetherington, shibasaki, the two singers, Walters etc who had their best year.
To get the best out of a team, it takes a hell of a lot more than one good coach and talent/ skill. There's so much more to elite sports than that. USA constantly wins more gold medals than African counties, would you say the Africans have less talent that uSa? No way. And if you put the head coach of track and field of USA in the Kenya team, would they win 50 holds? No way.
To me, the main contributing factor to Madge "failing" with us but not with NZ, NSW, souths and Broncos is money. I'm sure there are other factors, but money has to be the biggest.

Yes there is a lot of truth to this and it’s the reason I applaud a lot of what Richo has done off field and on the financial side of things.
As for the roster recruitment and retention, he needs help, but getting the club financial is a step forward.
I don't think there is any argument about the strength of the Broncos off the field and their financial ability to assemble a quality outfit - they don't do rebuilds they just top up. However with all their wealth and resources it's been 19 years since a premiership and Maguire has managed to play a part in achieving that in his first season

LMAO fairly free?? Madge had nearly half the cap tied up in Cleary’s garbage signings for almost his entire time here. Not to mention to mention Pascoe was so scarred from Cleary that Madge had to get any signings approved by a committee that included Pascoe and Hartigan so don’t BS everyone here about “free rein”. To my knowledge, no other coach has to do that, including Benji, who Richo has given actual freedom to.
Sheens previously coaching Madge has absolutely nothing to do with Madge being a coach, I don’t even know why you would bring that up besides desperation.
The only people still saying Maguire was the problem are the same fools who think we need a new coach every 2-3 years because they think the players we have had are much better than they actually are.
Just take the egg on your faces and try thinking before spouting your nonsense.

Madge got the axe-man job to clear the roster like Jason Taylor and Potter did.
Usually those guys don't last because no one is patient enough to see it through. I think Ricky Stuart is a good example of a club seeing it through to the coaches vision however long it takes.

Not only were we going backwards every year, I can't recall the team getting stronger or more fit

Gee it’s almost as if he was working with a bunch of dud signings by the previous coach who were taking up nearly half the cap and were locked into three or four contracts.

Surely he could of improved them over 4 years, Ivan was here for 6 months and they were playing out of their skin for him. A good coach improves his players no matter how crap they are.

Really? So how would you have proposed he improve Ben Matulino who was signed with a chronic knee injury that forced him into retirement? Or how about Packer, who after one good year spent nearly the rest of career on the sideline mostly injured? How about Josh Reynolds who was played 22 games in three years with multiple injuries?
Moses M’Bye was another dud Cleary signing but was called up to QLD origin under Madge. Nofoluma was a lazy POS yet he played his best years under Madge including being Dally M Winger of the Year. Stef made the extended NSW Origin bench in his 1st year under Madge. AD gradually improved under Madge and had arguably his best season (until this year) in 2021.
Cleary got us to 9th with a relatively healthy squad and his own hand picked squad. Madge also got us to 9th his first year with a bunch of injured duds signed by Cleary and cheap scraps.
