Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Can WT send a legal 'cease and desist' letter to Ute? He is at it again over Pole. Pole has 2 years left on his current contract with WT.

This is getting ridiculous.
The NRL is a dirty game and clubs are resorting to using players now to assist in poaching. If it keeps going, I say F the NRL and let R360 pillage the NRL. Vlandys and Abdo are scumbags.

People worry about the clubs money as if they're major shareholders or something...

To us Bula is worth the money. We have no other fullbacks at the club, there's not many top ones available to sign, and we are a much better team with him in it

The longer we keep our spine together the more success we will have. Bula is extremely fast, a try scorer and showed big improvements in his play making while still only like 22. No brainer to keep him imo
Perhaps 🤔 the most accurate thing I have ever read on this forum.. the way people carry on about the $ amount instead of or at the exclusion the on field performance and possibilities exasperates me .. I juts want to concern myself with getting the best Team on the field.. the actual wages and salaries is for the accountants and number crunchers FFS …

I blame SuperCoach

The logic is if we start paying Reece Walsh type money for Jahream Bula, we will not have the cap space to field a competitive team alongside him.
So it’s either he does the honour thing and triggers his contract extension for his true value or he puts us in a difficult position wondering how we pay an over inflated contract value to keep him and also find the cap space to field a competitive team alongside him.
I would ask him the question - “Do you want to play finals and hopefully compete for an NRL Premiership, or do you just want the cash”?
I've seen you reference "doing the honourable thing" a few times..

The club hiked my membership up by almost 50% compared to what I paid 2 seasons ago..

For 50% i must be getting extra value somewhere, right? Nope, nothing.. Then go compare the tigers memberships to other sydney clubs who also have the benefit of one home ground. We are more expensive than Penrith, Parra and the Bulldogs!!

The honourable thing to do would be to look after the members who listend to the call for us to sign up when we were at rock bottom..

When push comes to shove, players and fans are numbers on a spreadsheet.

So dont feed me this shit about bula doing wrong by the club and being honourable.. its a two way street.

When you go to watch the games I assume you would ideally like your team to win ?
If we continue to overpay players we will not have enough money left to fill the team with players capable of winning more games than we lose.
Surely you are sick of us losing, I know I am.
Jahream is a good slightly better than average player, he’s no superstar and not even close to being a superstar, so why would we want ti pay him superstar money ?
If he agrees to stay for 800k or less fantastic, but to pay superstar money to a player who shows nothing to suggest he’s anywhere near being a superstar is insane and certainly will not help us adequately manage our salary cap to have a team capable of making the top 8.

Melbourne have a good crop of forwards now. They’ve replaced the old boys well and really don’t need pole. Pahulu is a massive get for them and if they get bai they’ve got a really balanced pack. Maybe Stef is trying to hep his mate out in securing a few more $$ from us

You're completely ignoring my point about being honourable to a club who treats its fans as numbers on a spreadsheet.

Are you a member?

I don't see what the point is about being a member - like, are they the only supporters who get to comment? I'm sure there are plenty of supporters who live in areas where being a member makes no sense as they'll never get to a game and plenty who don't have the financial capacity to pay to be a member.

The guys a professional sportsman ( it's time we got onboard with that idea) whose job it is to maximise his earnings over his career and whether he's honourable has nothing to do with that objective. If he wants to get more $$ somewhere else, good luck to him - life will move on. If the club doesn't see value in his asking price then we will all move on regardless.

How the club treats its fans would not enter into a players mindset at all. He's paid to do a job for the club. It's the club's business how they treat their supporters.

Except there's a salary cap, which means how much you give individual players directly influences the ability to get the best team on the field. And some of us aren't stupid so want to know how that's all being balanced.

I mean, we could probably get Payne Haas if we offered him five million bucks a year. He'd be surrounded by dross and we'd lose every week, but I guess you'd be happy because we just went out and got the best player available.

You're not interpreting the message as I intended. My point is that its fantasy to talk about someone being honourable to a club who isn't honourable to its fans, let alone its players - all clubs are the same and we (fans and players) are a commodity. We are valued until till they find someone else whos valued more.

And to your point "hes paid to do a job"... To that job theres currently an option on the table for 800-900k. As you said, its business... so on what planet does a good businessman say "im gonna be a nice guy and leave 200k on the table"...

Then lets add the personal aspect to this. Bula wants to bring up a young family in Sydney... you can only do that if you have money these days.... so it would be stupid of him to walk away from 200k if he doesn't have to... even more stupid to "be honourable" and give it up on his own accord... he owes the club nothing.

Iv got nothing but huge respect for Bud. The way he's carried himself the whole time, then taking a paycut to make the deal happen. There are more than a few players that could learn from him about integrity, attitude and modesty. Best of luck to him, hope he kicks on.
I have a great deal of time for Bud. The way he handled the situation at the Tigers and at Souths, keeping his head down, doing the work, not kicking stones, is refreshing to see from a professional player. I genuinely hope he has a long and successful career...except against us.

Yeah we're at 28 spots now in our top 30 plus have 7 with development contracts (when I thought the max was 6) and 1 on a T&T that has been made public.

Dev - Broederlow, Murray, Haywood, Taupau-Moors, Godinet, Andrews, Roberts
T&T - Tavana
I thought Murray was gone?
Someone somewhere on the forum said he was gone... Meh could be a roumer.
