Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Keon has publicly come out today saying he’ll be testing the open market come November 1st and has also stated he’s a prop moving forward (hoping to attract the same $ as others)

Rabbits cap surely taking an hit after looking at their roster especially after the Fifita addition.

He can play 80mins at prop similar to Terrell. The combination of those two as our starting middles would be scary.

I think with the recent KPP addition on our right edge, all we’re missing is a dominant middle to partner May and he fits that criteria perfectly. I genuinely believe he’d complete our team. Don’t forget the Richo link with South Sydney and having played alongside Benji as well.

My question to fellow forum members is if you’d guarantee Keon’s signature…. would you offer a $1 million a season deal to get it over the line.

My answer….. YES.

You throw the hat into the ring for sure.

Players chasing the dollars. Will hold their clubs to ransom knowing that the Bears and 360 are waiting in the wings. Managing the cap atm for all clubs will really test their mettle.
Development and player identification will be even more important now moving forward . If the bears , PNG and the yet to be announced but all but guaranteed 2nd NZ team , struggle for multiple years , the draft will be almost a given .
In the circle jerk nrl of the post SL era until now , where self interest and self preservation were the only ways to succeed , the argument that “my catchment , my players” was the predominant one in the NRL community. as teams like the new 3 (3rd eventually) and say (hopefully not us) but probably the GC , maybe even the dolphins , or even teams like dragons , continue to struggle , ina system far closer to the nfl than the premier league , I can’t see the huge disparity continuing.
It works in the premier league because the champions league exists . There is no champions league in nrl .
Parity will have to become a thing , as the nrl can’t allow key growth areas like the pacific and west Aus , to fail .
If they the SL , then this desire ro have a competitive product t in each and every match , will be key to mission. Of the nrl .
You’re simply not gonna stop old players from playing for league minimum with a heavy weight . What you will do , is allow younger players to build a nucleus at a team they may not have considered because of bias’ , which in turn through draft and trade , should lead to smarter operations selling high on mediocre talent , and building .
In NBA we are seeing it . Both things are true . Older players with huge names are playing for the usual suspects in the Lakers and warriors , yet the best teams in the nba right now , are the thunder with newly built teams like Orlando , SAN Antonio coming for them .
In my opinion it’s the only way you’re going to get elite talent to places like Perth and a second nz team. Even PNG , which I won’t include because that’s going to be a hard sell no matter what for most players .

Matamua to the Bulldogs.
Theyre welcome.Showed nothing with us
As for Pap..how ruthless is Bellyache!
Punted NAS...released Papan..brutal
Both are past their best buy date..NAS cant survive in NRL any longer unwilling to bend his back in defence.
...Papan not the player he once was..lost a cple of yards of pace, and injury prone
Reckon they will go for Tino

I would agree with you if 2025 never happened, I think he took a massive leap after his transition to prop. He was running for 200 metres with 30-35 tackles a game consistently.

I’d have him on the same tier as Murray and Carrigan personally.

I think he’s the best prop in the game behind Hass, Tino and Tapine.
I think he has gone past Tino. He should’ve played origin and he carried Souths for a large part of the season

Any concerns signing him off a career year? Luke Brooks Dally M Halfback of the year rings a bell.

Pole is not leaving bro!
Honestly I really hope not.

I was actually looking forward to our team staying as is. Bula at 1 and Pole doing his stuff.

When Hastings signed, commentators had us making the 8 just because of how "balanced" the team was. Sadly the team was balanced and crap.

Now, I feel were weak in the halves but pretty balanced with who we have signed.
I am just hoping it stays that way OR improves.
