Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well there is no set scenario because this is all a hypothetical potential way of going about a contract. So potentially to hard.

However, you would start with KPIs for things in the players control such as conditioning (weight and/or skin fold requirements, beep/yoyo targets) and training (attendance, on-time attendance percentage targets).

As for on-field targets the traditional method is games (and grade) played. I don't know enough about Will Craig to relate it to him specifically but by say age 19 any back should be nsw cup level (perhaps a little older for forwards). So it would be play 12 games or more of cup to trigger the next year. You could change it to something like percentage of games available you are selected in the top expected grade for example 70% of the games available he should be picked in ressies. It is common for fringe players to have extension clauses put in for games played e.g. Klemmer had one.

US sports often have stats based bonuses. I'm not really big on stats based clauses unless it was for something specifically being worked on by a player but that could also be an option.
Thanks Greg, a little clearer now on how they draw up a contract to test their resolve to play NRL.

I don’t understand what you expect? it’s like people forget that the base we are starting at is 3 wooden spoons in a row. These things take time & roster building isn’t an overnight exercise I mean it’s evident for all to see how bad the previous administration were when we have yet another player from Sheens golden era joining the top 30 off of all the ridiculous contracts he handed out. That’s the base that we have had to build off. Benji & Richo have done a pretty good job at identifying what the team needs and taking steps to address those concerns.
And we had three wasted years with Maguire, who guaranteed that our defence and attack would get worse every year.

AD was gutless in all of that, its partly why people doubt him
Really?

After hearing it all, I actually like his play.

"mr manager, shop me around and get me a better deal. But if you don't I will do my own contract with the WT".

Sure AD could have negotiated harder with us, maybe?? Does anyone think 350k for AD is overs?

Ultimately he remained in charge of his own contract.

350 for AD is great value if you compare it to other contracts we have on our books. It appears Bula wants nearly three times more, the question is, dose he offer three times more output??

In fairness this was one article (around the time) that said exactly this:
"The Mole: Wests Tigers star signs with powerful agent Isaac Moses as club exit looms"

Another: https://www.zerotackle.com/exit-looms-for-tigers-star-after-signing-with-isaac-moses-223882/

FWIW. I had honestly thought that AD had signed with Issac Moses, due to reading articles that said this. I'm wrong, AD just gave Moses permission to reach out to clubs on his behalf and 'test the market'. Then he did the deal himself, no agent as I understand.

Glad to be wrong.
Haha ! Man I’m just playing . Nothing malicious in what I said . You’re super invested . It’s not a bad thing .

So Supercoach, this is the trick with the maths of this.

Say you get a AD kind of player. They can put out 500k output for 350k.
Sounds good right.

OR you have a 800k player that can put out 750k of value.

Both want to play Fullback or the same position.
You pick the budget/AD kind of player, you get 500k at a discount. But your opposition has a higher value fullback on the field at 750k.

Really it's getting the performance where you need it as much as getting the good deals.

No - he doesn't possess any goal kicking skills, lacks any idea of how to direct a defensive line, has limited capacity to turn the momentum in a game and cannot kick in general play. Catching a ball (sometimes) and running with said ball ( even less sometimes) are his only skills.

Too many people living in a fantasy world believing our current team is almost perfect once we sign a mystery 13 or middle ?
News Flash a mysterious superstar 13 or middle signing is not available, won’t be happening anytime soon and after paying our superstars we won’t have enough funds to pay any nysterious superstar 13 or middle even if they were available.
So we will be largely reliant on the playing group we already have and in horse racing teams they would need to improve 10 lengths to make the top 8.
Anyway it is what it is and it’s quite obvious some of our supporter base have become accustomed to finishing well outside the top 8 and don’t have any issue for it to keep happening for another 3-5 years.
If our management and the HBG are aware our supporters couldn’t care less if we keep missing the top 8, why would or why should they care ?
I’m starting to get the impression you’re not a fan of our top 30 and have zero confidence in our coaching staff.

Just for the record some of us reckon we need a mysterious superstar 13 and a mysterious superstar 10, and an actual 7. It’s been so long since we’ve had a real 7 that I was almost excited to get Jockstrap back.

Sometimes when you’re righting the ship a wave will knock you back, but as long as you don’t panic, keep making progress, the next wave might yours to catch.

Love ya passion V. 😎

So out of touch with so much lol

There was an announcement on the Wests Tigers website that they have signed a new apparel sponsor, a big letdown for the forum if that's all there is mikey.
It’s not a letdown if you weren’t expecting anything noteworthy. It’s a curious business model to tease something that a section of supporters will build up as the biggest thing since Luai’s announcement only to let them down when it’s about the website. A little tone deaf.
