I called it as the disgrace it was - but post deleted despite my righteous anger being entirely justified!

I said it was like Kristian Woolf decided to end Katoa's career in a single game - just to save face for how stale & shithouse Tonga have become under his coaching!

He's a bum who is covering his arse with the denials - and a perfect example of why NRL club coaches should NEVER coach rep sides!!

His lack of duty of care to non-Dolphins players - and his selection of Finefuiaki ahead of Halasima show where his priorities lie!

BUMP - if this shit happened to any Wests Tigers players while on rep duty there would be hundreds of posts condemning how the relevant coach/medical team failed in their duty of care to OUR player...

But this guy is looking at retirement just weeks after winning Dally M 2nd-rower of the year & playing a GF - and people here are more interested in jersey designs!

This is not true rugby league culture to not give a shit about this avoidable tragedy - just because the player is not one of your tribe!

He had a brain bleed, which we saw with Temaire Martin - forced him to sit out three years.

Eli Katoa is a weapon of a player, consistent too.
He's been the standard for a few years now.

Its a disgrace what has happened and I also hope he can come back from this.
 
Such terrible news - this guy is the best edge player in the game. I hope he recovers fully - my thoughts and best wishes go to him and his family.
 
I hope people don't jump to conclusions with the medical staff.

Only one person has been ruled out in warm ups or training for failing HIA and that was Tupinua last year or something at the Dogs.

I doubt Concussion protocols are taken that seriously in training.

What this proves to me undoubtedly is that players need to be protected from themselves. Not victim blaming here at all and wish him the best of luck but when players have that adrenaline, you can't take their feelings or even lack of symptoms in consideration. The main thing is signs and testing and HIA to me doesn't do that.

The medic who attended him probably just asked do you feel nauseous, can you walk, can you move your arms and that's it. That's probably what each team does when there is a head injury in training / warm ups.

There may be a failure in duty of care and not at all saying that there isn't, but let's not announce them guilty until the investigation is over.
 
Two disgraceful outcomes here. First and by far foremost the life threatening position he was put in by participating in a rep game.
And secondly a club losing a player of his quality through neglect while playing in rep a game that promotes the game internationally.
If heads don't roll on the back of this I will be stunned.
