To whom it may concern,

I am writing to formally request a refund of my Wests Tigers membership for the current season. This request is made due to the ongoing situation with the club’s board, which has resulted in a significant failure to provide the standard of service, governance, and representation that I, as a paying member, reasonably expected and signed up for.

When I purchased my membership, it was on the understanding that the club would operate under a stable, competent, and properly functioning board, providing transparency, accountability, and leadership consistent with what was promoted to members. Recent events and the current instability at board level clearly demonstrate that these obligations have not been met.

Under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL), consumers are entitled to services that are provided:

• with due care and skill,
• fit for the purpose for which they were purchased, and
• delivered as agreed.

At present, the governance of the Wests Tigers does not meet these standards. The issues surrounding the board have directly affected the club’s ability to deliver the service that forms part of the membership value — namely, stable administration, proper governance, and the level of organisational integrity that members are promised and rely upon when deciding to purchase a membership.

Given that the club is not currently providing the service as advertised or reasonably expected, this represents a failure to meet consumer guarantees under the ACL, entitling me to a remedy. In this case, I am requesting a full refund of my membership due to the service not being delivered in the agreed manner.

I ask that my refund be processed within a reasonable timeframe. Please confirm receipt of this request and outline the next steps required from my end.

A lot of people used to support either Balmain or Wests and yes we are now Wests Tigers, but you can’t just delete history.
The younger brigade don’t understand it and that is fine, but it’s disrespectful when some people try and vilify people’s connection with Balmain or Wests.
In a perfect world the history off the Balmain Tigers and Wests Magpies should both be respected equally and live on through Wests Tigers.

To me, Wests Tigers and the loyal fanbase crossed the rubicon this week and the club will never be the same. When we launched the initial petition we were met with a bunch of negative responses and pessimistic reactions. The second petition less so. These latest dramas, I think, have unified us the fans like never before. There’s no going back now imo.

As are others, I'm considering my continued support for this organisation. The question at the moment is; am I following the Wests Tigers or the HBG shitshows.
For years the Wests Tigers equated with the HBG shitshows. More recently Wests Tigers have risen above that, due to a period of good governance. The old chestnut, winning begins in the boardroom also works vice versa.
While I would feel regret for no longer supporting Wests Tigers, I wont be sorry at all to no longer follow the HBG shitshows.

If he stays, he's almost saying he's on board with HBG actions. He wouldn't be able to say anything against them, I assume.

If he leaves, it is him walking out on the club at the time of need.

The bloke can't win. So, I think the only option is to step down temporarily, but say he is open to returning once the Wests Tigers have a truly independent board. i.e. Once it is resolved, either by NRL or L&G.

He can put a timeline on it, say 1 month.
