HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Your just playing with words.

Hypothetical - the new Wests Magpies continue to play home games at Campbelltown & Leichhardt. They have a token little Tiger on the sleeve. And nothing else changes beyond the emblem and the colours. Is that a “new identity entirely”? Sure it’s a hefty do over but it’s the same club simply running around with a fresh hue.

When Balmain changed the name of their club to Sydney back in the 90s and ditched Leichhardt - was that a new identity?

Change is always difficult - but people cope 🤷‍♂️
Yep, people do cope as long as they don't let their emotions get the better of them.
When we became a JV I never said, 'stuff the Magpies don't want to know you anymore'.
I switched immediately and have been a member on and off over the last 15 or so years.
But I have always kept a strong interest in the Magpies.

Yeah man, it was maturing way back in May before this https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/ti...espite-government-pledge-20240519-p5jeuf.html

This is in the article

The Wests Tigers have refused to commit their future to Leichhardt Oval despite reports of a $50 million government pledge to redevelop the iconic suburban ground. The club will hold a board meeting on Monday to discuss its future stadium strategy and is not in a position to commit to playing any games at Leichhardt.

“If this funding is available it will be taken into consideration with our stadium plan, which we are meeting tomorrow morning in Brisbane to discuss at our regular board meeting,” Richardson said.

Lets see the minutes if Dennis was in the room and if he reminded everyone to ratify with HBD before any final decisions.
Mate it's laughable they came out and said what they did. Incredible actually.

I'm with you mate, however impropriety is evident on both sides.

What I hope is that two foundation clubs ( both 1908 clubs ) come together and rule the NRL!

No it is not “evident on both sides”. The BS claim by Paton about not HBG being consulted on WT board decisions does not stand up to scrutiny considering the fact that HBG has two representatives who, by all accounts, were in attendance at all meetings.

As for the BS today about Richo? He declared a conflict of interest almost immediately and no issues were raised until after HBG launched their coup on the WT board. An “anonymous” whistleblower just happens to make a report to the NRL at the same time HBG sack all the independent directors and Richo may be due for a two year payout if he resigns as CEO? Because that’s not suspicious or conveniently timed at all lol

Let’s use a bit of critical thinking, please.

I have only ever known the team as the Wests Tigers. Yet people are calling me a weak supporter for saying i won't support the Magpies if what we fear is going to happen comes into being. Why should I support a team that i have no affiliation with as it was before my time?
Who is calling you a weak supporter ?
I can give you a 💯 guarantee Wests Tigers will never ever change to Wests Magpies.

The more I look into this, the more it wreaks.

Below is a video posted from the official Wests Tigers channel discussing both stadiums and explicitly discusses 10 year + 5 year options for both stadiums.

This was posted over 3 months ago.

Here is an announcement made on the official website on 25 August. https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2025/08/25/wests-tigers-announce-long-term-stadium-strategy/

Quote: The agreement – subject to the finalisation of detailed commercial terms – reaffirms the club’s commitment to the Inner West and South West communities that it represents on a national stage.

HBG could have jumped in at any moment around the commercial terms. They were not finalised.

The funding for both stadiums has been in the news from before Richo took over from memory. We've been trying to get upgrades for years. Why would we push for upgrades if we never intended to play there?
True,

I had thought maybe HBG acted now to not disrupt our season 3 months ago. As much as I hate this BS now, I vastly prefer it happening Now then derailling us mid-season.

All up the communication excuse sounds BS:
2x HBG directors sat on both boards. They have the responsibility of keeping HBG informed not the 4 independents.
This has been planned for ages.

I want blood. I am open to the remote possibility of the HBG board coming clean soon and revealing something... But I really doubt that will happen.
The HBG board need to resign OR we need a divorce.

What planet are you living on? Who has called you weak for saying you wouldn’t support the Magpies?

How can you say that if Laundy takes up the sale there will be far more money than what HBG have at hand.
I reckon there are 3 possibilities RHS and 2 out of the 3 we will be better off moving forward.
1. PVL puts plans in place to strictly monitor HBG and they understand they cannot again step out of line otherwise the licence will be taken off them.
2. The ownership gets sold to Arthur Laundy and associates.
3. PVL puts us in the too hard basket and either ships us off somewhere else other than Sydney, or just revokes our licence all together.

Its not Shyt1ehead its called the 'Wests Tigers Forum`. HBG don't own this space and we're allowed to be as partisan for the club we love as much as we like. Like we are allowed to be pissed off here. Our club happens to have a Tiger on the logo. That's my Crest and I'm proud of it and good luck trying to change it. If you want to glaze on about victa lawnmower replica strips you can head down to the leagues club and pluck Denny's old grey saggy bass strings. Or stick around here if you want, but don't think for a second that Wests Tigers fans need to listen, like or respect anything that isnt unambiguously 1000% WESTS TIGERS. If you want to have a bet each way, you're no real fan.
Huh 🙁 @Bus 2 Terrigal is just as entitled as any Balmain person to express his views about Victa lawn mowers as anyone else and not be put down for it.
WESTS are still part of the JV AFAIK ATPIT.

Mate I hate to be the bearer of bad news but our whole season has already been derailed before it started thanks to this BS.

4. Something different

What are your thoughts on latest media rumours about Mestrov taking over from Richo ? If you are ok with this … feel free to ignore

really scared for the future of our club mate. nrl is our only hope.
And good onyuh for being brave enough to highlite the fact you are scared.
Nothin wrong with feelin that, it's a natural reaction to 'the troubles'.
It aint worth getting all riled up though.

Only 2 suits me V

1) They have had decades to get it right and their time is up, just blunder after blunder.
3) If we get moved and merged again in another state that's the last straw for me our identity will be diluted even more, too hard to come to terms with.
