HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

I agreed with this up to November 2025.

You always have a bit of politics and stupidity. Pascoe and Lee did have a fairly free reign and while I recall there was talk in delaying some contracts, I don't believe the delays were from HBG (could be wrong).

The problem was the coaching. The problem still is the coaching and getting a first class establishment.

I have said "the board doesn't matter" but when you have HBG making such chaos, it now matters.

The only positive I can see is the people waited till December. I respect that. I still want HBG to be gone, but I respect that they waited till after the normal season.
Unless the coaching staff decide they want out, I don't think anything changes for next season at all.

By which time, a new CEO, board & front office will be in place & have an opportunity to put things in place.

Decisions from Bula & Luai MIGHT be impacted, for future seasons. But they were already under some scrutiny anyway.

Apparently they are free to approve their own Annual Leave mid-season & have free reign on what they post on Social Media during that time too. Seems they are allowed to freely advocate weird hair styles & dodgy fashion choices.

As well as making deals around stadiums, player signings etc. Even get the green light to work on achieving a Centre of Excellence if the desire is there.
As long as you believe you are right that's all that matters.

The only thing is, they all got speared over the stadium thing...allegedly. COE...a free facility with taxpayer funded money...ypu think they'd stop that? Player signings? Only once they were out of the way.

Interesting that Richo would have clauses in his contract around having an independent board. He stated today that he knocked them.back the first time around because the board was HBG controlled. Can you tell me why a CEO would insist on that if they thought a stacked HBG board would let him do his job properly?

It is very difficult to see any promising player, coach or administrator hitching themselves to the club given what has just transpired. It is utter madness.

It’s obviously much deeper than perceptions, but the perceptions also matter. The destruction of brand value (for sponsors) and loyalty (for fans) is very, very serious.

"Player signings? Only once they were out of the way." We have only signed players at the club after HBG had put in some independent board members?

Why did Richo put in clauses? Don't know. Because he wanted to ensure he worked with Barry O'Farrell? Who knows? Why didn't previous CEO's have those clauses?

You can be as pissy with me as you want. I don't care. I'm not happy Richo left. But, it's not about to change my support of the club. I don't follow the CEO. I hope the next guy is good. And until someone with more clout than HBG takes over the club, I'm not about to let it get me so worked up that every post is akin to the sky falling on my head.

The club existed before Richo & with HBG. It will after Richo & with HBG.

Yep that's been our problem...a new CEO, board and front office should finally bring success. They'll just slot in and it'll be business as usual...won't take long to totally undo everything the last CEO was building and with HBG board guidance, we'll be flying.

Spare me

Except that historically HBG have been part of the club & players, managers & administrators have continually signed with the club.

It won’t exist for much longer when it’s being sabotaged.

Please help Chad understand no one has any power other than this small group of debenture holders....including any CEO operating under a majority HBG board.
"Please help Chad understand no one has any power other than this small group of debenture holders"

You just made my point.

Chill out. Getting worked up isn't going to change it.

Been silent for a while trying to understand everything that's happened.

This Richo stuff really does suck but it has only increased the outrage to the highest levels against HBG we have ever seen.

Watched the emergency pod this arvo and agreed with everything they said.

Don't give up hope they have gone too far this time and I think they're going to be put in there place finally but don't expect it to happen overnight it will take time to sift through everything.

Maybe.

Was there a guarantee Richo's plans were going to work?

Last I checked, a fortnight ago, people were still concerned about Luai's contract clauses & Bula resigning because we let his wife leave the club. That was all under Richo's watch.

Perhaps a polite email to the local members of government for councils, state and federal electorates that take in Wests Tigers areas might be something to think about. Darcy Byrne is doing a great job, but there are a lot more political voices that could get involved and would really push for change.

Maybe we should look at getting a former senior political figure onto our board!

Based on what? Who has actually said the existence of the club is under threat, other than a few people on here?
Based on the fact that the club has been a basket case for 10 years, finished last 3 times in a row, and in response undertook a review which identified that in order to be successful needed to implement a fundamental change of governance, which was summarily thrown away.

The existence of the club, at core, depends upon sufficient people supporting the franchise. And the last 7 days has broken to faith of a significant number of dedicated supporters, the loss of which will further undermine the viability of the club.
