HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Last year may have been somewhat enjoyable for you Chad. I enjoyed the tear’s grit. Richo & his board along with the football department improved the team.

As of a week ago, the club is now being run by a small group of people with no real skills to do so, you enjoy that.
Every year is somewhat enjoyable. If it isn't, what are you doing wasting your precious time doing something you don't enjoy?

Mate your apathetic response , is the reason we have been shit for 25 years . Because that’s how we all felt. I’m gonna live the club regardless. Only by being apathetic do we allow these people to go unchecked . We have lost a whole generation of fans by this ineptitude . This is history repeating itself.these guys have sacked 8 board members in less than a year 3 chairmen and 2 ceo . Do you know how crazy that is ..// it’s bonkers. It’s like we are being run entitled rich kid with ADHD . It’s soo dysfunctional.
You don't build support by eating guys like Chad alive. It might be another 3 spoons for him to come on board, but hopefully by then we will have seen some change and he doesn't have to get off his couch.

A question many of us are now asking ourselves good man. But we’re not prepared to just give it up without trying to effect change.

You're assigning feelings to me again Chad 🇹🇩

I identify as chilled and not worked up.

I have actually never said I would not support the team. I will just continue to campaign to get HBG out.

Not sure if you remember Nathan Tinkler when he owned the Knights? If the owners have nothing to do with results, what do you think contributed to their issues under his ownership? Even the great Wayne Bennett couldn't get anything out of them.

And before you get worked up about me being worked up. I can assure you...I'm not worked up.
Chill out mate. Tinkler went bust.

Maybe HBG will too?

Of course, the Knights have had nothing but success since...

What do we base that on though?

Financially, were the club any worse than over 50% of the other NRL clubs? Pascoe used to bang on about membership numbers & finances going up all the time.

Or are we talking success on the field? Because either we absolve all the previous coaches of their responsibility & it's all HBG's fault, or HBG put coaches like Sheens, Maguire etc in front of the players & the coaches failed.

I'm not a HBG stooge/supporter or anything like that. It's just that the rhetoric at the moment is being fuelled by a lot of fear of the unknown.
I base it on evidence mate 15 years without finals for a start.

A review that the HBG commissioned that found serious governance issues at the club and recommended the board be restructured and an experienced CEO to be appointed.

Under those changes we saw the first upward trends at the club in at least 5 years, On measurable indicators.

This progress has been thrown out by the group that the review recommended separation from.

You want to play these games then you better have evidence because I do.

I get that.

But raging against the machine in a chat room doesn't change that.

Taking veiled pot-shots at each other over the machinations of a few richer guys isn't fixing it.

I don't think having a Wests Tigers party on Saturday fixes it.

I suggested a few days back that when Souths needed intervention that the club/fans/etc got together & brought in a wealthy benefactor.

If HBG is all about making money, the way to shift them is through money.

I can't buy the club & don't know enough rich people.

So I hope the next CEO is good.

When did HBG assume control of the Wests Tigers?

If we want to assign blame for a moment when failure began, lets start with what started the process.

Then you can work your way back to rectifying the situation.

I have my theories on when things went sideways, but I'm 'really worried' that I might get called an apologist, kool-aid drinker or even a Magpies fan. I'd be interested to hear when the HBG group assumed control & started the clubs downward spiral into oblivion.
I think you know without having to ask me.

But, after throwing out the board members & having the CEO resign, what are the next moves?

People are acting like they know exactly what happens next. What if the next CEO is brilliant?

Remember- the review suggested independent board members & an experienced CEO.

They followed that instruction. For whatever reason (and we are only speculating at this stage)- they have moved the board members on. Richo chose to leave.

Have HBG said they are not going to take on independent board members now?

Last time the more passionate fans all pulled together it resulted in material changes including Richo, who finally had us improving.

So don’t tell me it isn’t worth it.

Given your responses, I really do hope you find something to fill the void on winter weekends.

I, for one, won't judge you if you decide to continue watching Tigers games & posting on message boards for Tigers supporters in the future though. Because, unlike the rest of us shills, I'll know you do it with hostility.

2016. The year before the board had two HBG members (Wests Ashfield) and three independent directors appointed by the NRL but prior to 2015 there was equal representation between Balmain and Wests Ashfield so the blame is really split equally amongst them hence the calls for an independent board or owners that are actually competent and have the integrity to run a club in 2025.

They as individual debenture holders - decision makers - have nothing to sell that remunerates them personally and will instead lose the power they hold over the direction of the club.

This is about control for them - not money.

History and evidence shows that the HBG is a dysfunctional organisation that doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.
