HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

More delusion…
I can’t remember reading a good word here about Benny - apart from that someone (probably him) that banged on about how rich he was!
Look, Benny Elias is Benny Elias.

We don't want him on the board because, he is shifty.

That said:
He is a club Legend. A huge talent and an Iconic Balmain player in an iconic team.
Post football, instead of sitting on his arse he actually became successful. Good on him.

Do I know if that success was through Grift or actually business acumen? I suspect a little of both but really I don't damn well know.

Did he stuff up the Balmain deal? YES!

Unless HBG or the NRL or someone actually put Benny on the board can we stop rubbishing on the club legend?
Like just Stop now?

Heck you either seem to want to pick fights over WEsts supporters then rant how the club shouldn't be divided over wests vs Balmain. Just rubbishing on Benny when he is nowhere near this board accomplishes nothing.

What we should be doing is using Benny to help promote post NRL pathways. Benny has contacts and could help the board get corporate sponsorships or post NRL jobs if used right. No don't put him on the board, otherwise leave the Legend alone!

The fact they thought that would appease the fanbase is comical, to then also have PVL can the idea.
Completely agree. The way they leaked the candidates to the media to canvass reaction shows how out of touch and unprofessional they are as well.

The three candidates they considered- Burgess, Epifania and Elias, have zero qualifications, a proven track-record of putting self-interest before the club, and no discernible skillset to warrant being part of a modern day board of an NRL club.

If benny was such a legend he would be doing what you suggest already - quietly in the shadows .
Deep down cc you know he's an egotistical stick .
And best kept away from this club ,

I don't recall too much rebellion on here when he was touted for chairman, or whatever the position was . . .
It seemed too far fetched... I dont think anyone considered it a possibility... Stupid us for underestimating the stupidity of those who approached him.. we should have known better.

For the record, I wouldn't have him anywhere near the club ever again.

You just called him a club legend - he’s not a legend of this club. He’s got a big mouth amd a small brain (bad combination) last I saw - he was rubbishing wests tigers and told his nephew not to come near the joint.

We have 99 problems... But Elias ain't 1.

Yes he is an Egotistical Stick. Heck most 9's have to be, Michael Ennis is worse.

That said, whatever the hell is going on with HBG vs the board, it ain't Elais's doing.

So lets talk to the crux of this:
People mentioning "past Players" becoming directors.
I can only recall Corey Payne who became CEO of Panthers, and it ended badly.
Mark O'Neill who seemed to do Good at the Eels. (I regard anyone who can last 2 years there as doing good).
Someone from the Sharks, etc.

Most ex players don't become directors. If we wanted this we would have to selectively pick and groom people into the role.

Even when an ex player becomes a director, it's no gauge how they will perform.

Many will do mediocre and basically be a token celebrity on a board.
They are crap directors!

Benny Elias is in the weird position of "hey you have made millions and have kinda been successful... But I want you no where near our board".

We need good directors, we also need a refocus on the football governance. HBG isn't working, dare I say it too the Independent directors have gotten back of house stuff sorted but don't know the arse end of a football.
To resign Benji till 2030 is a colossal board failure.
By that I mean for the Sharks to resign Fitzgibbon or Easts to resign Trent till 2030 would be a fairly large call.
We did not play finals footy, we came 13th. Were not focused on Football.

Totally agree with this post.
There are ex players out there that are multi millionaires thru their business acumen that are sane thinking/speaking people . backdoor is not of their caliber
