If benny was such a legend he would be doing what you suggest already - quietly in the shadows .
Deep down cc you know he's an egotistical stick .
And best kept away from this club ,
We have 99 problems... But Elias ain't 1.
Yes he is an Egotistical Stick. Heck most 9's have to be, Michael Ennis is worse.
That said, whatever the hell is going on with HBG vs the board, it ain't Elais's doing.
So lets talk to the crux of this:
People mentioning "past Players" becoming directors.
I can only recall Corey Payne who became CEO of Panthers, and it ended badly.
Mark O'Neill who seemed to do Good at the Eels. (I regard anyone who can last 2 years there as doing good).
Someone from the Sharks, etc.
Most ex players don't become directors. If we wanted this we would have to selectively pick and groom people into the role.
Even when an ex player becomes a director, it's no gauge how they will perform.
Many will do mediocre and basically be a token celebrity on a board.
They are crap directors!
Benny Elias is in the weird position of "hey you have made millions and have kinda been successful... But I want you no where near our board".
We need good directors, we also need a refocus on the football governance. HBG isn't working, dare I say it too the Independent directors have gotten back of house stuff sorted but don't know the arse end of a football.
To resign Benji till 2030 is a colossal board failure.
By that I mean for the Sharks to resign Fitzgibbon or Easts to resign Trent till 2030 would be a fairly large call.
We did not play finals footy, we came 13th. Were not focused on Football.
