2026 squad - still not good enough

Feel like Seyfarth may struggle to make the full strength 17.

He'll land a few games of course but playing around with line ups, I've got KPP & Samuela starting back rowers and all depends who makes the bench where Seyf fits in.

I've got

14. Latu
15. Sione
16. Royce
17. Bunty

Maybe he takes Buntys place.
We will see.
No backrower just in case ? All big forward bench don’t mind it

Someone mentioned we had ‘stiff competition for back row spots next year.
I see 2 NRL back rowers…

I’d love to see another 2.
Sione should play lock or ressies.
2 starters in the ones mentioned

And Sukkar & Geyer as depth, who are just pups.

You've been a ray of sunshine this off season mate, there's depth there just not very good or unknown playing for us.

Roberts, Geyer new recruits.

Sione played a little last season, Sukkar Seyfarth well now I can see your lack of optimism I feel the pain.

You don't rate Ethan Roberts? I know nothing about him.

I'm really, really hopeful with him...
But don't know much on him - I'm sure he's not short of fans here.
But he's the next up for mine - And he's never played a game.
Having blokes that can fill in or help out ain't cutting it.

Seen nothing in Sukkar to suggest his close to having an NRL Career,
Seyfarth has been done to death there, and continually come up well short
Geyer is here for a year and lets face it, Penrith aren't moving on a hopeful with Alexander / Geyer Blood
So I'm not real hopeful there either...

Feel like we've been 2 back rowers short for a decade.

My run on side round 2 , I think we are close to a top 8 team if they all perform well in each game , go the distance and not let games slip with 10 or 15 to go but most important not start 12 or 16 points down after first 20 both these things were an issue last season where we had to chase or we just could not finish teams off specially in the 10 to 15 out area , we just didn’t have that last punch .

Bulla
Skelton , May , Toa , Turuva
May , API , Bunty ( Bunty first 15 ) then Pole
Sam F , Twal , KPP
AD , Luai
Hunt - Pole - Madden - Sione - ( Macca , Geyer )
No latu?

Sione reserve grade?

Yeah, Although that's the last option...

If there's no room in the 17 to get him on at some point to play Lock,
Then he shouldn't be in the 17.
He might start at 13, Who Knows....

I just don't think he's really NRL level at a Prop or Second Rower.
If he can't be in the middle to work behind 2 Decent Props as a Lock with some
footwork and Ball movement inside the 80
- Put him in Ressies to do it until he can be is what I'm saying.

Sorry what… Sione had a great year in the middle

I don't agree with your assessment but the good news is It's probably the best back row depth weve had for a decade.

What's and where is this depth everyone keeps talking about?

Our best prospect in the Back Row (Behind the 2 Starters) hasn't even played in the NRL.
That's not depth, That's potential.
Depth is guys who can actually do it at a high level, And we have 2 of those (So far)

Hello,

So after thinking about how you can structure a salary cap, I figured it was worth looking at our 2026 squad to see how it matches up (based the "how many players ideal" on the calculation in this thread: https://weststigersforum.com/threads/managing-the-salary-cap.36713/#post-2168078).

Long story short - as things stand - our 2026 squad is definetly an improvement on this year, but still too "bottom heavy". Have assumed Jayden Sullivan is moving on, and we are resigning Taylan May. The rest of the names I've taken from the NRL website. The ratings is based on how they rate compared to other players in their respective position. Room for debate on that front I appreciate.

4 players left by this calculation - ideally all four would be average NRL players or above, but that's probably a tall order.
