OFFICIAL SG Ball Cup

Balmain up 6-0. Azzi slices through has his winger unmarked on the outside but somehow goes himself and gets smashed. 2 plays later and a reckless pass is intercepted and Parra score under the posts. Should be 12-0, but it's 6-6.

You just can't get away with these crucial errors when playing quality teams.

Balmain well on top and absolutely butchered the easiest chance in the World when the prop drops it cold 2m out tight next to the posts with no one in front of him. Balmain should be up by 20.

Balmain then come up with their worse 2 mins of the game, making only 10m from 4 hit ups and Parra barge over in the next set.

Too many brain dead plays have killed this teams momentum and lead.

12-12

And just like that Parra take the lead. Balmain haven't touched the ball since dropping it under the posts, back to back penalties have given them 2 sets on our line and they just walk through untouched.
The boys dropped their heads after the error and conceded 12 points in 4 mins. So disappointing.

Parra 18-12

Yes you have to take your chances against good teams.
I was wondering why Zane Farr-McKay was benched for today’s game as he is a big body who runs the ball hard.
Watching him closely today I would say it’s likely due to him carrying too much weight and struggling defensively because of it.
Nothing that can’t be fixed if he works hard on his fitness and hopefully he does as he has potential.
The Balmain right hand defence getting towelled up.
Why do we seem to struggle with our right hand defence in every grade.

And Parra go back to back to back. Balmain completely switch off out wide when the ball hits the ground, Parra pick it up and go 50 to score again.

The sliding doors moment, instead of having a big lead and full of confidence the boys are shattered and out on their feet. 24-
12

Parra score 4 sets in a row now. 24 points in 9 minutes.

A complete capitulation . Balmain haven't touched the ball in over 10 minutes.

Game over at HT 30-12.

Wouldn’t it be better for Balmain junior reps to play their home games at Concord Oval ?
Not only could the young players be in awe of the facilities that could sway the better players to want to stay loyal to Wests Tigers as they move through the grades, but it could also be a selling point to opposing players who we may one day want to recruit.

54-12

Thought it would be close because Parra are missing their two starting props

Don’t see a world where they don’t win the cup

The sliding doors moment. Confidence & momentum is so important at this level. It’s a big loss & plenty of learnings need to be taken from it.

I've never seen such a sharp turnaround. That one dropped ball from Fotu and we didn't touch it again that half. A sucker punch that knocked us out. We had no energy, gave them 66% possession from that point on, our defensive line was in tatters, players walking and turning the back on the ball. Every single player dropped their head. Literally A 50 point turnaround.

Parra are an excellent side. Their backs are far superior to ours. Our entire back 5 were terrible today. No real prospects there. They're all too small, and not fast or skillful enough to compensate. The halves can't do much when you can barely make 20m a set.

Parra ran harder and sadly our boys gave up.

They're still a decent side and could maybe squeeze into the finals, but we as a club need to get so much better at overcoming adversity.

And once a side has a roll-on with repeat sets, in this heat, it is extra harder for young players to stop the flow of a good team. Plus having captain & effort leader Blake Van Drie as a late out was a big loss.
