I was told that there were staffing issues over the summer. I think a couple of other staff members left with Richo or were pushed out by HBG. In any case we were low on staff hence the bare bones content and web updates.

Recruitment is done and we now have staff so content on all grades should improve.

Nice to finally get some squad news...! No real surprises with the squad
Thanks for the heads up.

Tito tavana with two massive game changing errors. He scored a great try on the air, but made two terrible errors, both of which led to a bears try within 30 seconds.

Having a loose carry 5 seconds before half-time after diffusing a poor kick was inexcusable. Going in level was a sucker punch they didn't deserve when all he had to do was lie in the ground for a bit.

Saukuru probably our best, made strong metres with every run. Bunty was quiet, whole pack lacked any real edge. As usual for us the team lacked X factor. No pace, no power. Attard didn't get many opportunities but diffused most kicks in defence and scored a good try by supporting through the middle. Lanyon also made a difference when on, Stefanovic is no hooker.

Matai is no halfback, Andrews had a shocker with his hands and just struggled to get involved

They really missed having hope, madden and Geyer out there. No experience, little composure. The extended NRL bench was very costly for the Magpies.

Fair summation there.

Those 2 handling errors took the gloss of a good game by Tavana, and as you say, both errors led to crucial tries. On the flip, Tavana made good runs out of yardage, scored that good aerial try and diffused 3 or 4 bombs.

I thought Charlie Murray was our best, ran (including strength scoring the first try) & defended strongly with a number of those good late offloads. Just ahead of Bunty Afoa who was also strong on both sides of the ball.

It was one of those games where nearly all of our players (barring Charlie) had a glaring error or missed tackle/s in their performance but most also had quality moments (Sukkar tackle break & offload that led to Attard's try, Tavana's aerial efforts, Matai's intercept, Mason's yardage every run, same with Saukuru). It was just these errors or misses led to Bears tries (i.e. Tavana knock-on, Sukkar missed cover tackle, Mason poor read & miss, same with Matai).

If I was using the old RL Week ratings, Charlie, Bunty & Ieti Samuelu would be 7s & most of the rest would be 6s.

Hope & Madden will make a huge difference to this side. Yesterday I can't remember any depth in good ball positions.

A couple of points ...

Lidcombe Oval - 3 Magpies matches for losses yesterday, no fortress yet!

Bailey Hodges - I'd love to know why he had been converted into a middle forward when in 2024 he showed so much promise and skill (hand & foot) as a hooker & lock. It has done little for his development imo.

How did Patrick Herbert go? Is he ready to cover for using firsts ?

Those calling for Mason in the centers against Souths in 1sts....last try

Just cant understand Mason at centre. He looked solid in the middle in the trials. Obviously trying to get him reps in a position we lack depth in but it is just a continuation of the butchering of his development.
