Stretched / Attacked the Wahs from inside our own half.

Tons of support and

Played to the last minute (We scored a try at the end of both halves)

I’m confident in our middle (for the first time in a long time). We can go toe to toe with any team there but that won’t be enough to beat teams like Penrith, Melbourne ect. Stretching them, particularly in our own end when they are more condensed will be necessary to score points.

Ok I watched the game twice and I can’t believe everyone has madden in the team every week , yes he my have directed the team around, but he costed us two tries , his defence on the line is poor , maybe be better coming on in a short effort, but for me he is not a full time starter

It was is first game of the year. He hasn’t played cup. Yes, his defence was mixed. The Wahs first try was more a result of positioning the Sam (2nd row) and the centre. He made some good one on one tackles on hard running forwards. Also slid off a few.
Our outside backs were more threatening running of the shape he provided rather than not knowing how to time their runs. Bula had his best game. Chiming into the line.

i think our attack look the best it has in 3 years too and a lot of that is on the 6 and 7
lets not forget madden was in our top 3 in the trials too

I couldn't watch the game at the time but caught up on it last night and - oh boy! One for the ages. Some late thoughts from me:

- What an unTigers-like performance! Usually it's us camped up inside the red zone unable to score and swiftly getting countered, but we flipped the script this time. Incredible defensive resolve
- Madden MOM for mine. I can't remember the last time I saw a 7 play like that for us (ironically wearing the 6 jersey ... classic Tigers). The kicking, the passing, the composure. I think he needs to stay there. Doueihi is getting all the flowers, but it was Madden playing deep into the line that allowed our attack to flourish
- Speaking of Doueihi, what the hell are we supposed to do with this guy? He's not a 7, he's not a centre, he's certainly not a better 6 than Luai, but there is no way you can leave him out of the team right now. Grasping at straws here, but maybe you could bring him on for Twal after 20 and play him at lock in defence and a second 6 in attack and just let him cause chaos.
- It's early days and I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but we might have close to the best pack in the comp. The size, the balance of styles, the way Benji has been using his bench. It's bloody impressive and I still think they could go to another level.
- Api and Bula were both outstanding. They make such a massive difference to our team when they play like that

Douhei played well, and he is in the 17 but Luai playing 6 is a no brainer.. he also would have shone outside madden last night,,, maddens passes were perfectly spaced to be ran onto and gave Douhei time and space.. luai has played 5 grand finals and won 4 so of course he adds to our team…also happens to be the captain and sets the tone of our defence
Fair points, just hope he listens to Madden when he tells Luai to stand deeper?

The pack and the halves killed it. The pack has outplayed every team the Tigers have met so far. If the halves played well against
Last week Tigers against Souffs. --------- IF the halves played well, the Tigers would have probably won,
BUT Bennett did a job on them.
Spell it out!
Bennet did a job on Doueihi @ 7 and Luai @ 6. Blot them out, you win!
Doueihi is not a 7. Not the game manager type needed @ 7

Watched the replay again last night. Such a dominant performance from 20 minutes on where we win 32-4.

Can we also get an appreciation for how awful Gee was at referee? Three penalties all night, one of them the compulsory sin bin, none after 30 minutes. Twice they dropped the ball and he gave them a penalty including the one were Sam Fainu blew up. Then there was the penalty for running in when Makasini copped a shoulder.

Credit to the players not going to water when a few fifty fifty decisions were going against us. One off a short drop-out was a clear home town decision I thought.

Yeah I thought the ref was sh...t , also the
bunker took the longest look at everything we did ,trying to take tries, Knock on's etc ,just seemed like they really looked hard for something? maybe I just had my Tigers hat on and it always like to that.

One thing Madden has done very well in all three games is engage the line and throw that great ball to his opposite half across the face of the defence, perfectly in front of them to put them in two minds. Javon Andrews benefitted from a few of those in the trials.

He's done a very good job directing the team whenever he's played and defo one of the best backups in the league.

The first one was such a good pass from Madden that AD actually had to accelerate to catch it and that probably got him through the line. Nice work by AD to draw and pass to his winger at the right moment.

Top effort with a makeshift backline, little possession and a complete peanut refereeing. Everything set up for a big Warriors win but everyone stood up. Early doors but could be a season defining game.
SHOULD be a season-defining game, the challenge is we often have games like this early, e.g. Eels 2025, Sharks 2024.

I dunno, something feels different this year, more steel than I am used to seeing.
