I never said he abused anyone, you have misinterpreted my point.
What I said is that those two men were protected for many years by people who tried to convince the world they were wrong about them. The way that NRL identities, especially in NSW, try to hoodwink the public into believing the “genius” of Gould is true, reminds me of those other situations.
Gould didn’t bring success to Penrith. He set targets that he couldn’t reach and the club couldn’t reach until he had to swallow his pride and bring back the coach he ran out of town, and then he left himself. Of course he takes credit for it and his sycophants back him up but Ivan had far more to do with it.
As for the Dogs being a top team…yeh nah.

You can do a lot worse than Phil Gould. He's won comps as a player, coach and GM. He was the best NSW Origin coach ever. He's a fine broadcaster, and always spoke glowingly of the way the Tigers played under Sheens. He and rabs were always very funny together. Footy is a soap opera, you couldn't operate in all those senior positions for 40 years unless you had a modicum of talent and integrity. Doesn't mean you have to like him, but jeez, come on.

It’s largely fake. The bloke makes far more grand statements after the fact these days but if you go back a while, he used to make them up front and he was always wrong. It used to be awesome after an origin game watching him sit there like a sullen child who had lost his lollipop as Fatty would rub in another QLD victory. If you were a gambling man in those days and bet against what he was saying, you would be rich.
As for his commentary…remedial at best and spends most of his time bagging the game. He repeats himself over and over like an autistic child stating the most obvious things….”don’t let the ball bounce” lol….

Look I just wanted to make the point clear.

Gould Sucks. But I have heard no Epstein/Weinstein/Alan Jones like allegations.

He is a Gordon Ramsay and a total Karen. You argue that he is not as good as his reputation, Sure I won't disagree.

Heck I will say this. Gould pushes people hard because he isn't that good. He gets performance by grinding blood from a stone. You don't have a club, you have a gym junkie driven Psychopathic culture which is what the dogs are now. We can disagree respectfully as I do think Gould achieves 'something', he gets results. But by teaming up with a psychopath in Ciraldo instead of someone human like Ivan Cleary the "train harder" approach backfires.

Especially with Galvin. The guy throws himself in at 100% and gets himself into everything. He won't learn anything playing for those two.

Agreed you have to get the basics right.

A better example was Wayne Bennett telling Wendell Sailor "run Straight!"
Aaron Woods playing good here with simple instructions, more complex instructions and he becomes a plodder.

No halfback though wants to kick the ball into the arms of the fullback, however they definately don't want to kick it out, it's a compromise. So they will aim it close to the line but not so it goes out on the full.
