Of course he takes credit for it and his sycophants back him up but Ivan had far more to do with it.

Come on mate. You do realise this is the same mob that appointed Laurie Daley as NSW Origin Coach TWICE. Who are these identities. ?? They couldn't fool punters for love nor money. Why bring a sex trafficker into a conversation about footy?? God you're weird.

You can do a lot worse than Phil Gould. He's won comps as a player, coach and GM. He was the best NSW Origin coach ever. He's a fine broadcaster, and always spoke glowingly of the way the Tigers played under Sheens. He and rabs were always very funny together. Footy is a soap opera, you couldn't operate in all those senior positions for 40 years unless you had a modicum of talent and integrity. Doesn't mean you have to like him, but jeez, come on.

Not the administrators…I’d say they hate him.
It’s ex players and a lot of the personalities on TV who helped cultivate and protect his image.
It’s largely fake. The bloke makes far more grand statements after the fact these days but if you go back a while, he used to make them up front and he was always wrong. It used to be awesome after an origin game watching him sit there like a sullen child who had lost his lollipop as Fatty would rub in another QLD victory. If you were a gambling man in those days and bet against what he was saying, you would be rich.
As for his commentary…remedial at best and spends most of his time bagging the game. He repeats himself over and over like an autistic child stating the most obvious things….”don’t let the ball bounce” lol….

Look I just wanted to make the point clear.

Gould Sucks. But I have heard no Epstein/Weinstein/Alan Jones like allegations.

He is a Gordon Ramsay and a total Karen. You argue that he is not as good as his reputation, Sure I won't disagree.

Heck I will say this. Gould pushes people hard because he isn't that good. He gets performance by grinding blood from a stone. You don't have a club, you have a gym junkie driven Psychopathic culture which is what the dogs are now. We can disagree respectfully as I do think Gould achieves 'something', he gets results. But by teaming up with a psychopath in Ciraldo instead of someone human like Ivan Cleary the "train harder" approach backfires.

Especially with Galvin. The guy throws himself in at 100% and gets himself into everything. He won't learn anything playing for those two.

Agreed you have to get the basics right.

A better example was Wayne Bennett telling Wendell Sailor "run Straight!"
Aaron Woods playing good here with simple instructions, more complex instructions and he becomes a plodder.

No halfback though wants to kick the ball into the arms of the fullback, however they definately don't want to kick it out, it's a compromise. So they will aim it close to the line but not so it goes out on the full.

Maybe not to casual viewers but yes it’s all obvious stuff to most and when he says it some carry on like the most profound statement ever was just ushered….he then becomes emboldened and repeats it half a dozen more times that broadcast.
The bloke is a cancer on this great game.

He didn’t fuel that hype and turn it into expectation.
The Wests Tigers started it and then all the talking heads and podcasters around d the game - especially Fox - carried it forward.

He also does not understand the QLD way.
Therefore if he was from up here he’d be an office worker not connected to the game in any way.
