Superb win by the boys in Flegg on Saturday 48 - 12 over the Raiders who are a mid-table team.

A few outstanding performers but really everyone contributed in a fine team effort.

Jared Haywood - best performance of the season in both attack & defence. Makes good decisions, elite passing game from dummy half & so deceptive with his pass selection in the red zone. Get excited!

Archie Duncombe - runs hard & tackles even harder with a motor to match. Rated by his team mates for his leadership going off recent podcasts with Riley Oitmann & Logan Brookes on WT Faithful. Made over 200m+, good offloads and forced at least 2 errors with rib-crunching tackles. If this guy doesn't land a T&T or Dev for next season with us, I will be flabbergasted.

Ethan Roberts - excellent 2nd game for the season. Size, strength, skill & solid defence wrapped in a behemoth. His passing is elite for a forward too, such a smooth long passing action. Sky is the limit if this guy has the right attitude to rip in at training.

Logan Brookes had a great game once again and his goal kicking continues to go from strength-to-strength. I feel he has attributes (particularly power/strength & defence) that will see him go past Attard in the pecking order.

Shout out to our centres Xavier Tauaifaiga & Max Taotua too. Xavier has had a ripping start to the season particularly his defence for a smaller guy at this stage and came up with 2 tries on Saturday. Max has looked a bit down in confidence of late, but despite a couple of errors in the 1st half, really shone in the 2nd half with his carries often making 20m+ & an excellent try that was similar to Timoko in the NRL, cutting back inside and beating many tired forwards.

But as I mentioned, they all played well even 1st gamer 19yo Filipe Huahulu who actually looked better at this level than at SG Ball.

This week they face an in-form Sharks, good test!

Told ya Archie was a good one to keep a eye on.

Absolutely, i thought Jared had an excellent game, really picks his runners up well, one thing i did note and correct me if i am wrong, but did Phoenix Godinet only come on with under 15 minutes to go in the game i found this unusual as the games i have watched this year he has been strong for them, smacks of , you have been a naughty boy. Is there a story there or am i jumping to conclusions.

He did only come on with 15 to go.

I just think it's a current pecking order thing atm as Mitch Taotua has been killing it since the trials at right back row (even at NSW Cup level) and obviously Ethan Roberts another top-ager rated very highly on a NRL dev.

He'll get his opportunity again very soon.

i still thought it was late to bring him on considering how well he was playing this season but good to know that everything is okay as i would hate to think that this boy is going to be dropped out of West Tigers plans, Also i didn't mention in my last post, but been watching Archie Duncombe this year and i really like him, He definitely has that old school front rower toughness about him. The tiges have definitely got some talent coming through the challenge now is to manage it properly. Thanks for the insight Black White and gold.

Shout out to Leni Plati also in his first Jersey Flegg game of the season on Saturday. Impressed last season as a bottom-ager with his energy & fast leg speed as a middle. Apparently has been rehabbing an injury since then & made his return on Saturday. He complements CTM & Duncombe well as 1st middle sub bringing his impact & energy. In the mould of Nathan Brown, he'd need to add a bit to his frame imo to progress into open age from next season but well worth the investment in his progress.

Great news about Haywood. There was a lot of discussion about Da Silva when released to the Eels. It seems whoever made the decision to release him got it right. Also, I am enjoying the performances of Brookes and his potential to be a WTs NRL player.
Me too. I feel that Haywood, Brookes, Duncombe, Roberts, Taupau-Moors, Godinet and Mitch & Max Taotua, are all showing future NRL potential atm.

And then the likes of bottom-agers Xavier Tauaifaiga, Sonny Edwards-Moeke & Riley Oitmann have certain x-factor qualities about them. Size is not in their favour but they have time to add enough to their frames to complement their ability.

And we are yet to see Siotame Havea Jr debut in Flegg yet. He is currently getting reps against men in Macarthur A grade.

Jeez this Flegg team is strong.

We know some will progress to Cup over the coming months (perhaps NRL for Haywood) to give them a taste or when injuries above strike but if the bulk of this team can stay together, a premiership is realistic.

The team has depth too. There are the likes of Byron Laupepa, Peter Ta'ai, Jack Nicholas, Havea Jr, Luani Tuifua, Jeremiah Leatigaga & Will Craig, who weren't in Saturday's team and could easily be.

Get excited!

Sonny Edwards-Moeke has always been under rated coming through the system but he is a very good player worth the persistence. Siotame Havea Jr is a football from top to bottom.
Yeah SEM has really surprised me.

Think Sultana has really found his position as a running 5/8 not an organising halfback like he had to try to be in SG Ball last year. Good, strong defence too.

Hey mate is there any highlights anywhere of the game . It sounds like Heyward and Duncombe had a blinder but I cant find it anywhere .

Do you reckon Shane will move up higher . I wonder what he could do with this KOE team . Ir maybe he’s best suited where he is right now teaching the best juniors at the last age group footy .

I do hope they have a pathway plan mapped out for Shane. He's by far & away our most successful pathways coach. Maybe into NSW Cup program or a NRL transition assistant coach would be a good next step.
