Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

So HBG dipped into their own pockets using their own money, not the revenue from the club they run . If that's the case I take my hat off them. Do you know if each board member put in the same amount or did it vary? Was it voluntary or did every board member have to contribute?
Jimmy, for the purpose of our discussion here, I equate HBG with Wests Ashfield.
I don't know which poker machine note holder they took the money from, or which revenue account it came from. I'd assume it was from club revenue.
I doubt that any board member paid from his own account. I'd be surprised if the same board members are still there . . . we know how short lived that gig can be 🙂

Fonua Pole is and will be much more important than some of us realise.
Of all the props 23 or under this year across the NRL, I’d say he is number 1 and not many young props run the ball as strongly as what he does.
Supposedly very close with Bula and their partners/wives are sisters, so you would think if Bula stays, it’s a big chance Pole does too.
Well put pole and his brother on that list , if we get all that have been named our team will be super strong for the next 4 years

Samuela and Latu will stay. Cant seem them leaving Sione. Manase will also be released from jail soon and they will want to be around him.

I’d say the most likely to leave would be Makasini given the money Rugby Union can offer.
Agreed, as long as we do right by Sammy and latu contract wise they’ll be here.

Maka, Pole and Turuva would be the most at risk at leaving. Hopefully we can keep all 3 but feel we may loose one or two.

I’m still laughing so hard listening to Cameron Ciraldo complain about the refereeing .. and the rule changes as to being the reason why his side isn’t doing well .. hahahahaha

He complained about the 6 again count that didn’t help them at half time .. ummm Dogs received 5 and Dolphins only received 1 up to half time .. awwww poor mongrel Dogs .. lol
He does winge and he makes some shocking team calls l, but I do think that if the NRL.chamges the rules so significantly then they should do it after a 3 year period. If you sign players wilth the idea they will control the ruck then suddenly the game is changed to be be faster after one summer then it would effect the results. Benji seen it and got our big boys slim and fast. Teams just need time to prepare for new rules I think. At least a year in advance.

How do you fit anyone else in our cap, by the time all the extensions are done the kitty will be exhausted.

Even if we have Bula’s money we will need a fullback, think money will be tight.
re Spencer Leniu if we can get him for 650k.

Yea, if it can happen. He really seems to be playing a similar game to Stef/Adam Blair but still having a huge impact on the field.

Re the cap. When you have Luai leave at 1.2m you have cash to play with.
No way do I want to pay out all of Luai's salary on our side upgrades. Sure upgrade some, but we are not paying stupid overs just because we have money.

Leniu would be interesting, so would Collins, Crichton and Watson... At the right price!

I wonder...

The Storm are clearly hitting tough times. We have been talking of Fonua Pole going south..

Reckon Suli Pole could head north?
We have some budget with Luai's salary.

We would have to loose someone... Unsure if it's a good idea to have 3 families heavily involved in the club.

Happy for him to go and make millions and play in front of 3000 people for the Waratahs. Apparently Sua’ali’i touched the ball twice the other night.
Re Manase Fainu.

He will be coming here in some form. I do worry about Manase as he went to jail and he seemed rather unrepentant.

Benji did well to integrate Taylan May, but it's going to be a challenge with Manase.
If Manase doesn't want to play, I would be happy to offer him a job at the club. Something like "community liason".
